| | | Little black dots Does anyone else 'suffer' from having lots of little black dots at the sides of their fingertips from their BG testing lancet? I've got loads of the little buggers. Anyone know how to get rid of them? |

| | | I get them when I forget to rotate my sites but they usually go away after a bit..I also scrub them a little. I've never had a problem with them.

| | | Yes I do even though I try and rotate the testing - mine are through testing too much. |

| | | I tend to favor my thumbs for testing and if I don't rotate after awhile I get those little black spots too. I use one of those foot files or a heavy emery board to get rid of them.

| | | I do. I've counted at least 20 on a finger at times. I do rotate. For example, on the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, etc., I'll use the "inner" side. On the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, etc., I'll use the tip. On the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, etc., I'll use the "outer" side. I generally check my blood sugar around 12 times a day right now so I get plenty of holes. Each one will go away after a few days, but they are replaced by so many new ones. I've found the Accu-Chek Softclix device to leave the largest ones so I don't use it as much as I once did. True, it seems to be the least painful lancet device to me but if I used it all the time, I don't think I'd ever get rid of the holes. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get rid of them, though. Would a sharper lancet work? It looks like it might make a smaller hole but that's just a thought. In the last few months, I've started getting bruises often when I prick my finger. It used to happen a lot and that's why I was so slow in using lancet devices because I didn't bruise when pricking my fingers by hand, but it sure hurts a lot more that way, so I'd rather not go back to it. Got any suggestions to help with that?

| | | I get those, too. I only use two fingers on each hand (goes back to how I was taught almost a decade and a half ago), but I feel like I do a decent job of rotating. I found that when I've been in chlorine water for a while, the scabs tend to go away, just like other scabs and cuts will in a pool. So, go take a nice swim for a while!!

| | | I almost exclusively use the second, middle and fourth fingers of my right hand for testing, so if I am having a day with loads of testing, it gets somewhat uncomfortable. I just looked under a fluorescent light and those fingers look very abused, as does the less-frequently-used pinkie. My left hand looks pristine because I don't find it as easy to get the drop of blood on the target, so I avoid it.
I am not complaining, though. If I have discomfort, then I make a conscious effort to rotate for a few days and it gets better. I don't usually test more than four times a day, so it isn't a huge deal. But if I am having a bad run, then it does get uncomfortable. Perhaps changing lancets periodically would help, but there have been polls about that on this site, and it seems most of us do it ever-so-rarely.

| | | I get them on the pads of my fingers (ring & pinky on both hands), as those are the areas I use most. Truthfully, I'm unsure how to get rid of them (other than rotating more to prevent them), unless you try some type of exfoliating scrub, maybe??

| | | Seeing this thread makes me feel much better. I've had these black dots for years, but recently I've gotten a few warts and thought that these dots look quite similar to the capillaries that feed into warts and was concerned that these were just waiting to erupt on their own! Glad I'm not the only one that has these! |

Hey, just got a spiffy new lancing device from BD uses 30, 33 gauge lancets. Hardy leaves dots!

| | | I couldn't figure out what you people were talking about, until my granddaughter asked me what all those little black things were on my fingers. I really need to get my eyes checked again!
