2x daily levemir really required for me?

I know the general answer is yes but I would like to know if my situation really requires 2 levemir injections a day.
I am currently on 15u levemir per day

Below is what makes me wonder if 1x day levemir and my meal insulin schedule is sufficient or if I need to add a second levemir dose.

I have 6 meals a day spaced approx 2.5 hrs apart.
Novolog lowers my bg for 4-5 hrs after injection.

I take a small dose of Novolog with each meal according to the carbs in the meal and time of day.

I wake at 11:30am and eat breakfast by 12:00pm, snack at 2:30pm, lunch at 5:00pm, snack at 7:30pm, levemir & dinner at 10:00pm snack at 12:30am.

My bg stays in a range of 80 - 130 except upon waking when it is almost always 180+. DP.

My understanding is that Levemir is not a 24 hour insulin, more like 20 hour so it should be taken twice a day. Even with Lantus, which is advertsed as a 24 hour insulin, many people benfit from two shots a day.

For some reason I was thinking that maybe the Novolog would cover me between meals on the days when I am testing, injecting, eating every 2.5 hours being that the Novolog works on me 4-5 hours.

The whole rational for Multiple Daily Injections is that the basal insulin covers the steady release of glucose from the liver that occurs (somewhat) steadily day and night, while the bolus shots, in your case, covers the insulin requirement for each meal.
You can confound them, but it just isn't a good idea. It makes the calculation of the amount of insulin for an individual meal problematicall and very prone to error.

I take levemir just once a day. It lasts around 22/23 hours, but I would have thought this varies between person to person.

From what you have said I think you could take just the one shot. I take my levemir at 6pm before my evening meal. 16u. But I only have 2 maybe 3 meals a day and occasionally some snacks, everyones different but just one shot works perfectly for me.
