Endo appt. this coming Thursday :)

Hi again

Eri see's her endo this coming Thursday...I rec'd a letter from them stating they wanted me to bring my other daughter in for testing(b/c they say 1 in 100 siblings could get diabetes)...and, she's been running weird numbers, still. Ah well, I am just praying it's b/c she eats so much(and is still a twig!)...and she (lately) hasn't had much of a "fasting" time. We shall see in a couple weeks(takes about 10 days for the A1c to come back).
I have to be tested as well. I guess they are doing some study.
Believe it or not, Eri's been running a lot lower...and at times, NORMAL, lately!!!
She see's her neurologist tomorrow(also her first day of summer school)...so, we'll see what's going on there b/c she's been getting the migraines still.

OK, I'll shut up!!!

Have a good one all

My A1c takes about that long too. Depends on the lab you go to or the doctor.

Good Luck at the Neruologist and the Endo. I hope they find some help for Eri with the migraines. My 3 siblings have been checked and none have diabetes but I think one may be hypoglycemic.

Mom,

Seems like I recently read some articles that indicate "gluten intolerance" may be a contributor to migraines.

In fact a quick google got this article:

http://www.webmd.com/content/article/62/71709.htm

"Of the 90 migraine patients in the study, four had previously undiagnosed celiac disease. All four went on a gluten-free diet. It cured migraines in one patient. The other three had fewer headaches -- and when they got migraines they were shorter and less intense."

Thanks all

We actually got to the neurologist today and it was so busy there wasn't even room to sit. On top of that, Eri wasn't feeling well at all, so she begged me to reschedule. which I did. We were looking at about a 2 hour wait at that point.
Oddly, her readings have been 101 or lower(usually somewhere in the 60's in the morning lately)...so, I am praying that helps her A1c drop a bit.(in FL we used to get her A1c back while at the appointment, now they send it out to the lab and it takes up to 10 days).

My son was just tested in FL today for diabetes(urine test) but it only showed a higher reading of protein. He's scheduled for bloodwork for an A1c soon. My daughter, Elle, will get tested on Thursday along w/ myself.

I wonder if the cuts Eri rec'd has anything to do w/ her readings going lower? She broke a lightbulb in her hand(by mistake) and slit open her thumb and the palm of her hand(and then, while at school today, where does she get a paper cut? Yep, the one on her thumb...ooowie!!!)..and she also stepped on a stick on the 4th...barefoot b/c she was getting out of the pool, and she has that pool of black blood under the skin.

Thank God her appt. is Thursday!

Keep us updated. I would hate to have to wait 2 hours to see a doctor.

I'm definitely looking into another neurologist for her. A friend of mine is giving me the name of her daughters neurologist. Eri's tentative appt. (the one I rescheduled) isn't until Sept. 5 now...ugh...but early in the a.m., so we'll see how long a wait that is!

I'm really looking forward to this endo appt...her readings have been a consistant 68/69mg/dL the past couple weeks for her wake up reading.
...oh, and she has taken a major sudden intrest in her carb count and all that!!!(bathing suit season is what I'm guessing)...but at least she's really counting now!!!
