Eri's endo appt. today...and more!

OK...as we know, Eri is in summer school...I picked her up today, and when she hobbled over to the car, she said, umm, mom, I think my toe is broke. I said why, of course. Well, there was a fire drill and this boy shoved her up the stairs...and she jammed it. UGH!
So, we go to her endo, her dad and her sister and I are part of this study to see if we carry the antibody for diabetes...so we each had 2 vials of blood drawn while there and Eri was looked over. They are pleased w/ the progress she is making, her carb counting and this (new to us) doc wants her on the pump!!! Eri asked herself
So, she looked at Eri's foot and said to take her to the pediatrician. Then she checked out her thumb(she broke a lightbulb in her hand while putting it in the fish tank or her gecko's thing)...and she said I did a great job of making sure it was cleaned and sealed, etc(yea!)....so, we get her A1c results in about 10 days...and our results from the bloodwork soon as well.
Anyway, from there I had to drag her dad to his doc appt(he HATES going)...and from there, I had to get Eri to her pediatrician. She see's Eri's foot and sends us right over for an xray...sure enough, it comes back as broken and has to be aligned. Lovely. So, we will hear from the doc's tomorrow on when and where to take her to whatever orthopeadic doctor to have her toe fixed(I know you can't do much for toes), but they want it to set right.
Needless to say, she is not a happy camper right now...but, she's dealing with it.

Her new endo is AWESOME!!! We really like her

So, w/ all that babble, that's about it. (Lord only knows if I made any sense, I had to go to work after all that and close tonight and it was HOT in there!)
Aside from the broken toe, she is doing a lot better w/ her bg's and we're looking forward to getting her A1c.(I have a feeling it will be higher b/c of the stress and things that went on last month).

I'll update when we find out
Have a good one !!!

I'd be very curious to know the results of your antibody tests...Please PM me if you are unwilling to make that info public, and of course you can just ignore this request if you feel like it as well.

Wow, all in all seems like a pretty positive visit . Also, seems like Eri has settled into things more now~ which is awesome . I am so thrilled that she is doing better with her blood sugar and that she feels ready for the pump... I think she will like it once she gets into a routine using it- please keep us updated with that . As for her toe, ouch! Hopefully, it isn't too painful... at least it's summer and she can take it a little bit more easy... I'm sure she'll be up and around soon, though.

Thanks for updating & I'll be looking forward to future updates

Thanks all

Yep, w/ Eri, we're old pro's w/ broken bones! She's had both arms fractured(buckle fractures) from boys, shattered her (rt) thumb nail bed and had surgery on that, and now the toe. I knew they wouldn't do anything with it, they just wanted to be extra careful b/c it was like a jam and the bone fragment is floating around, etc...he told her to make sure she swims a lot...like THAT's a problem!!!

Oh, I'll be more than happy to share the results from the study w/ the antibodies and such
Doing this to help w/ any research we can!!!

Thanks again all

Wow Robin. Looks like things are starting to look up for "our" girl. Tell her I'm sorry about her toe and give her a big {{{HUG}}} from me.

Thanks

So weird that all the sudden, her bg's are getting more and more normal, but a GOOD weird.
Poor clutzo kid jammed her toe again walking up the stairs at school. She's SOOOO my kid! The doc wants her to wear those addidas sandals(which she has) b/c, well, it's best for her toe...and I think that's what made her trip again.

I just can't wait for her A1c to get here(I know it's not going to be the greatest...b/c of everything that went on while her brother was here), and I can't wait to hear from the clinic ppl to see if any of us have the antibodies for diabetes...and how my Elle is doing.
My son still is waiting to go in for his A1c test...like I think I mentioned b/f, his protein was high(why? don't know)...and he drinks gatorade or soda(IF I let him) constantly and is skinny as a rail(wish I had his metabolism!!!)...

So, will inform when I get any/all of those results!!!

Sorry for rambling!!!

Hey Robin

Ouch! Poor Eri. I've never broken a bone(kow)but it sounds very
painful. I hope that she doesn't have too hard a time with it. That
probably means crutches?

That's Great to hear that her sugars have been better anyways.
Good for her. Wow, finally a pump. I hope that goes through alright.

That anti-body study would be interesting. My Doc had suggested we
go for it. Unfortunately, my Dad had already passed away so that was
a no-go. I hope that you are enjoying the summer otherwise.
