| | | Spike, I did not pick you out for any reason. As far as the "!!", well, we do speak english here and we read what we see. Every thing has meaning to the reader. Write how you want but people will read it like they have been educated - that will lead to misunderstandings.
Do you see the difference in what you said to me and what you said to the original post? You explained yourself, wrote an entire paregraph - added an example to make it easier to understand. Short quick responses come across a lot different than what is really in your mind, perhaps not. With just quick responses who knows what the writer really is saying. I know what your are saying, I like to add a lot of periods..... It does't mean much other than my finger gets going and doesn't stop.
All this and mids1999 still does not have any more of an idea what we think then she did when she ask the question. Frankly I don't know what to say. I do understand what she wants, I am just not good at planning such things. |

I was just taking the opportunity to explain further, since it became obvious that at least one person didn't get my intended meaning. I always prefer that my posts aren't misinterpreted. Planning is my worst talent. Right up there with communicating! |

| | | To clear up some confusion let me start off by saying that I am male with no idea on how to decorate a room to make it feel comfortable.
My fiance who takes up the bathroom most of the time is the female.
I guess I chose the wrong title for the room but what I am trying to achieve is the following.
The reason I call it a diabetic room is because I plan to manage my diabetes (test and inject) in there.
I want to create a library/office/theatre room with a sink, mirror, fridge and whatever else is needed for proper storage/usage of my diabetic supplies
I am on MDI Levemir and Novolog.
The comfort and entertainment values of the room are the top priority with the diabetic stuff being a very close second.
The reasons that I dont want to use the other room is because
I like to be able to wash my hands right before I test or inject.
and
We have people who stop by unexpected.
Not that I have a problem with them knowing I am diabetic I am just uncomfortable with doing things infront of them or being interupted when I test or inject.
Also just to clear up any possible misconception of me being wealthy I would like to state that we live in a 2 bedroom single wide mobile home with 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms the 2nd bedroom being the unused room. |

What part of the room do you need help with? Furnishings? Layout? You need to ADD a sink to that room? You need remodeling advice? I can point you to some newsgroups, if THAT'S mostly what you need. |

Yes all of the above. Exactly what I am looking for. |

| | I think you should paint the walls pink and add a couple flowers and butterflies.
BTW, I don't see nothing wrong! But really, is your girlfriend only using the diabetes as an excuse to give you your own space or does she really want you to have your own room where you can do all the scratching and farting you please while watching TV?

| | A his and a hers bathroom has saved many marriages. Another thought would be a place to put some exercise equipment.
If you decide to go the entertainment room route you could sell the idea to your finance by saying if you make it fun enough you could convince your physician to make house calls on game day. OK, that would be a tough sell but worth a shot.

| | | Sorry, you did say that you were male. Screen names mean nothing so you draw your own conclusions - and forget what the poster said in the first place. |

I've been reminded gently on more than one occasion by my wife to be more careful ("We've got a bleeder!") around her quilts when I'm checking my bg's in bed. She finally bought a multicolored one that if it had a little stain here or there, would not look as bad as her nearly all-white one. Keep that in mind when choosing fabrics. Leather cleans up better than fabric, too.
The newsgroup that you can ask questions galore on remodeling is, "alt.home.repair". Historically there have been some real kooks hanging out there, but don't let that stop you from getting so great assistance. I've done my share of remodeling, but that's hardly a topic to go into depth on this forum. Hence, I suggest you check out that usenet resource and let me know how you fare.
Instead of a bathroom sink, if you want to make the room look cool, consider a bar sink. |

| She spends most of the day in there and gets mad when I have to push her out of the bathroom so I can use it.
She is obsessive about cleaning her face and brushing her hair. (she has a skin condition)
The bathroom is too small for both of us at the same time.
We have become so used to living with each other that we can do all the scratching and farting we want in front of each other with no problems.
I dont know how she would be using the diabetes as an excuse cause I am the diabetic. Thanks for the suggestion.
I will definitely consider a bar sink. Maybe even a small bar. How should I suggest this idea to them to get suggestions?
Obviously asking about a diabetic room doesnt fly. |

Yeah, a bar with a mirror and glass shelves is cool.
I agree, the mention of diabetes isn't pertinent to asking on the newsgroup about making yourself a den. I'd characterize it as a den unless you find that's not really what you are after, either. Other ideas for a description? You'll have to tell them what the room will be. It's not a bedroom or a living room, but maybe "den" is close enough to what you had in mind? A wet bar certainly fits with a den or study... |

| | | Here's a few questions....what size is the room? Is it square or does it have something jut off to one side? If so, which side, can you explain the best so I can make a sketch of the layout? Does it have any closets in it? What rooms are around it? Do you have a basement below it?
My dad and I do home remodeling on the side and I'd be glad to help you some. I just need some help with figuring out plumbing and such for you. I'd hate to put a wet bar on the opposite side of a room when you have a bathtub against one wall with the plumbing for it on the same exact wall. Tell me more about the room you have and what's on the other sides of the walls and I'll see what I can do for you.
I think in the room a nice idea would be a wet bar in one corner with some exercise equipment in the other corner. Whether that's a weight machine or just a treadmill, something that brings you into the room. Then on the opposite wall put a nice entertainment center. If the room is large enough, through a big screen and a couch in there.
