Here's a few questions....what size is the room?
| 10'x12' 8' tall 10'x14' if you measure with the closet. Quote: |
Is it square or does it have something jut off to one side? If so, which side, can you explain the best so I can make a sketch of the layout? Does it have any closets in it? What rooms are around it? Do you have a basement below it?
| The room is at the end of the home. Bathroom and laundry are right next to it. You have to go past both to get into the room. The plumbing for the bathtub and the laundry area are in the wall that is shared with the room.
It is a square room with 1 full lengh closet on the right wall and a window in the center of the left wall. Its a mobile home so no basement but the underside is fully accessible. Quote:
My dad and I do home remodeling on the side and I'd be glad to help you some. I just need some help with figuring out plumbing and such for you. I'd hate to put a wet bar on the opposite side of a room when you have a bathtub against one wall with the plumbing for it on the same exact wall. Tell me more about the room you have and what's on the other sides of the walls and I'll see what I can do for you.
I think in the room a nice idea would be a wet bar in one corner with some exercise equipment in the other corner. Whether that's a weight machine or just a treadmill, something that brings you into the room. Then on the opposite wall put a nice entertainment center. If the room is large enough, through a big screen and a couch in there.
| I would greatly appriciate the assist.
Here are some quick layout images.
Notes
1 wall has bathtub next to it
2 Closet, laundry water and drain in this wall.
Water heater is in wall also. |

| | | First question...do you want to get rid of the closet or not?

| | | I dont really care about the closet.
The room is completely unused.
Only issue with ko'ing the closet is that area is uncarpeted.
The rest of the room has new carpet. (medium grey)
If it helps the room was recently painted. (off white) |

| | Ok, editing your image...
The red item is a wet bar. Have about 3 feet between it and the wall behind it. Make the bar about 2 feet deep and 5 feet wide. Add a sink in the bar and then underneath it put a mini-fridge. That gives you a place to wash your hands and store your insulin supplies and other supplies. The plumbing for the bathroom should make it easy to get the needed water supply and drain lines to that sink. That will be the only major addition you have to do and therefore it shouldn't cost too much. For something like that depending if you do it yourself or not, you could spent around $1000 (cabinets, sink, refridgerator, countertop, plumbing)
The brownish item is a couch. That will give you a place to sit and relax and watch TV.
The green thing is your entertainment center. You could slant it somewhat towards the TV to make it nicer to watch or you could stick it in the closet and put some fancy door on the closet that when you open it you have it right there.
If you are included to, you can add an exercise bike or treadmill (the blue thing.) That will make sure that you get the plenty of exercise that we need. You can then exercise and watch TV or listen to some music on your entertainment center.

| | | Thank you
I like where you are leading me with this design.
A fairly open design considering the size of the room.
I like open
Almost all the necesities are there..
Within budget. |

| | | If you really got creative and wanted more space, you could do like I briefly mentioned. Instead of buying one of those entertainment center kits, you could just build one right into the closet. Maybe change the doors to something else like bi-folds on both sides. Then you open the doors and have a cabinet on one side for additional supply storage, maybe books, then your TV on the other side. That's the best idea I can come up wiht since the floor isn't carpeted and you don't really need carpeting if you just have a built-in entertainment center.

| | | I guess I would do this all different. But if I had a whole room for myself for diabetes and money wasn't a huge object. I would.....get a treadmill and recumbant bike and stair master as well as a big screen tv. I would have a rubber flooring for sound (my sister did that and it is nice). I would also have a nice shower area or soaking tub area and of course a fridge for juice and cold water. Of course there would be a really nice couch/love seat set up for relaxing later. |

| | | I think I'd want my own loo. If you girlfriend spends hours in the one you've got how will you cope if you're ill and need to "go" often?

I saw a guy on a recumbent and my wife and I thought it looked uncomfortable to pedal in that position. Do you have one? How is, compared to a regular bike?
The OP stated he didn't have $1,000 bills falling out of his pockets, so I'm guessing the mini 24-hr fitness gym may not be in his plans. <g> |

So not sure where you don't see this being in his plans.

I've been reminded gently on more than one occasion by my wife to be more careful ("We've got a bleeder!") around her quilts when I'm checking my bg's in bed. She finally bought a multicolored one that if it had a little stain here or there, would not look as bad as her nearly all-white one. Keep that in mind when choosing fabrics. Leather cleans up better than fabric, too
| You have leather quilts? |

Hmmm, this sounds familiar...
The OP should know that running a personal fridge will cost a bit of money in electricity (and heat generation), and when the power goes out (if in the midwest, you think about these things), the personal fridge will get warm faster. |

Also saved money when we got rid of our waterbed (it had a heater). |
