Well, I had my wonderful yearly bloodwork done today. After fasting an entire 9 hour shift at work plus an additional hour driving around to 3 hospitals to find one that accepted my insurance (my first stop only does job entry physicals/bloodwork - my work sent me here, the second one didn't accept Humana, so the 3rd stop was a success) And let me tell you fasting for 10 hours is not easy, not sure how Cyborg does this so often.

Anyways, I had the blood drawn by one of the best people in to world. Cam, you'd be proud of her, she didn't hurt me at all. And she even gave me a lollipop (could used about 10 since my BG was low since it's obvious my basal rate slowly drops me down in 10 hours, need to correct that now) and a coloring book at the end (hey, I asked for it, lol.)

I can call for my results in a week or just wait till I see my doctor on August 1st. I'm thinking of waiting and then just hoping my cholestrol is down. Wish me luck eveyrone and I'll post my results here when I get them.

I don't make it a habit! I was extremely busy the other day and didn't get to eat. When I finally got a decent chance, I decided to "go for it" to see what my bg would do. I ended up doing a 24 hr fast, probably the first one in my life...

I actually had to call my endo today to find out when my appointment was. I totally forgot to write it down and was actually surprised and relieved (since it wasn't tomorrow or last week) when I found out it's 2 weeks away.

Why do you have to fast 9 hours during the day? I have mine on Friday, and I only need to fast from Midnight until I get my blood drawn. Which unfortunately is not until 11am. Don't your sleeping hours count?

Do you only get bloodwork done once a year? Does that include an A1c? I guess my CDE and PCP are lab-happy. They want blood at every visit. I just had an A1c done and also my cholesterol for the appointment I just had with my CDE yesterday. At the appointment she gave me a form for my next visit in October. I usually go to the lab 7-10 days before my appointment. That form is for an A1c and thyroid tests. I think I've had my thyroid and cholesterol levels checked at least 4 times in the past 16 months, along with other various tests.

Well, the lab I wanted to have my bloodwork drawn at is directly next to my place of employment. I actually walked there first before having to drive. ANd they don't open till 9 am, so I thought it was easiest to just fast during the day and then walk there after work. Too bad that idea failed, lol.

I have the full bloodwork done once a year, and then an A1C every visit, which is every three months.

Well...I had to go straight to the cafe after the bloodwork to eat. I think I was running around 50-60 when I tested after the blood drawl. Since I couldn't eat I could only do temp basals with my pump and cross my finger that they would work and then not work too much. Not to mention I wanted to do a partial basal test and that was the easiest persuasion method to get me to do it.

And this is only the second time I've had blood work drawn at my current doctor. I switched doctors about 2 years ago from a child endo to an adult endo. The child endo did their own lab work and same with this adult endo once in the past. However, the person that does it at my adult endo moved on about a year ago, and she was the only one certified to draw blood and they haven't certified anyone else yet. So it caused me to search for a lab, which calling my insurance company to ask for one failed since it's a 100% automated system that doesn't have "Labs" as an option.

Hope great results come back Jedi! I hear you on the fasting. I usually fast Sunday days, but take it pretty easy on those days, and usually have a great dinner. Working and fasting hurts!
