Get a cold, damp cloth and place it around your neck. If that doesn't seem to help, do the same with a larger cloth/rag and wrap it loosely around your neck (DO NOT CONSTRICT)...Should help you cool a bit.

Drinks lots of fluids if you are allowed to do so.

Just curious how hot it is over there? Over here were are in the low to mid 90s in this heat wave. If you are going to be outside, drink lots and lots of water.

Too hot for my taste!!

I have a massive amount of work to do, sorting out stuff, packing, etc, before our move to Canada. This hot weather certainly doesn't help!

Sugars have been slightly on the rise.

I am considering bringing my sleeping bag at Tesco's and sleeping in one of their freezers...

110 degree F (~45 C) heat index in Kansas City today (103 degrees F right now.)

I'm really mad... I ordered my test strip supply on June 24.

The insurance mail order company just shipped them on Monday from PA using first class mail.

I've always intentionally ordered when I knew it would be cool outside, but now they've decided to ship them during the hottest time of the year. The test strips are probably in a tiny box sitting in a mail truck (or will be soon this week). The postman doesn't deliver until about 4:30 PM, meaning the box will be sitting in his even hotter truck all day. They probably won't come today, because it usually takes about 3 full days from PA.

Does anyone have any experience with receiving strips that have "baked" for a week?

I've heard it said that running cold water over the wrists will help cool someone off. I've never tried it but will the next time I feel the need. Of course, I sweat when taking a shower so it might not help me much.

Heh, one and only one reason I like living in the Pacific Northwest...it's all of 78F today.

As for help with the heat...try taking a dish towel and wetting it down with cold water and squeeze it out and put it on your head... If your water is too hot there, then stick the wet towel in the freezer for a few minutes.

Also, if you have any small ketchup packets, put them in the freezer for an hour then stick them in your shoes. (The ketchup packets also work as quick, small ice packs for kiddie booboos. )

Lived in KCMO at Linwood and Main when it was that hot with no AC. The problem there when it's like that it does not get below 95 at night from the heat radiating beck out of the roads and buildings. The only thing you can do is sweat, too hot to sleep. 109 here today with a blast furnace wind, but at 2 AM it's 82. My bg's are running 25 points high for the most part, or it's my strips that I cary with me in the heat.

OK...weirdly, Eri's sugars have been completely normal w/ the heat...
Maybe it's b/c of living in FL so long and being used to it? I admit, she does have a few lows, but the norm of her "lows" are around the 60's somewhere.

She seems to be a bit backwards, eh?

Oh, and I know I'll regret this as well, but I can't wait for winter(ok, even autumn!) b/c the temp is the kitchen at work is WELL over 100 degrees and is miserable to work in!

i know my blood sugar can do crazy stuff sometimes when its too hot

i just started a new job where i get up at 5am so while i have been adjusting to that my blood sugar has been higher then usual, im guessing its because of the extra stress on the body but im getting used to going to sleep earlier and waking up at 5 and they seem to be going back to normal. i felt like **** the last couple weeks though.
