| | Dr. Denise Faustman Dr Faustman is scheduled to be on dLife this Sunday (8/6/06) on CNBC at 7:00 PM ET, 6:00 PM CT, and 4:00 PM PT to discuss her controversial diabetes research (controversial is dLife's word, not mine). I, for one, will probably be watching this episode.

| | | I watched it for the first time this past week and it's pretty good. I may have to get a DVR at home just so I can watch it since I keep forgetting it's on.

| | | Don't have cable so I've never seen it. I saw no point in paying for cable once they dropped Channel X. They ran some pretty interesting movies on Channel X and I sure do miss it. I remember those ads they ran for "Her Name Was Lisa". Couldn't help but wonder, "Did Lisa, by chance, leave her phone number???"

IMHO she solved the most important piece of the puzzle in curing diabetes, by stopping the immune system from attacking pancreatic beta cells. Now we just need a good process to restore those crucial cells. While everyone else has been working to restore the cells, she has been working on (for at least 6 years now, I have been receiving her news letter for at least 3 years) retraining the antibodies which destroy them.
Looking forward to watching the clip right now! |

I think I am going to make a poster of her and frame it on my wall lol. Einstien is still up there, but I have a new hero. |

| | Count me as a huge supporter of Faustman's work (and the Iacocca Foundation). Her teams work has been ground breaking. Unfortunately the efforts to reproduce her studies have been less than exiting (see: Science Magazine).

Jason | Says I don't have access to this item :/ . It's all good though, I remember when the replication study came out. While most people were bashing it cause they didn't have the same success, I still think it was an equally positive experiemnt that still showed that it works; Just not to the same degree that faustmans team achieved.
Regarding the video clip - 15$ pills to cure. 15$ - and its a pill. Non invasive, inexpensive, cure. That would be a miracle. Until the video, the way I undertstood her study was that the patient would have to under go several blood transfusions. They would take blood from the patient, retrain (not destroy) the bad t-cells then infuse it back into the patient. The fact that it could be a pill that does this is quite a leap forward. |
