Damage from diabetes

I seem to be suffering from some nerve damage at this point. My right arm is numb from the elbow to the pinky with most of the pinky and the tip of the ring finger numb. My right hand has become very weak too. It's now more like a club than a hand. Is this supposed to happen?

Say you'll share with
me one
love, one lifetime . . .
Lead me, save me
from my solitude . . .

Say you want me
with you ,
here beside you . . .
Anywhere you go
let me go to . . .
Christine,
that's all I ask of . . .
(you)

Supposed to? I don't know, it certainly doesn't seem fair. It may not be related to diabetes. It isn't fun, but you gotta bug your doc about dealing with it.

Take care,
HeatherP

... I don't know if it's supposed to happen. Some nerve damage may be expected but to what extent? Each person is different I guess! I did experience a certain degree of numbness in my 'pinky'... tips of fingers too. But then again, a friend of mine was complaining about the very same thing and she isn't diabetic. But we've both been using computers (keyboards) for a long time. Is it related? I have no clue. There was a time I had to be careful not to lean too much on my desk because my arm would suddenly go numb (pins and needles you say I think?). It got to a point where it would just drive me nuts. Then I must say, I had no control of my BG. Again, was it related??!!? Who knows!?? Now it's not as bad but I do get a little tingling now and then. Get your doctor to assess your condition. Nag, nag and nag! Because we have diabetes they just think it's NORMAL to suffer from all kinds of ailments and, honestly, I think doctors use that (pitiful) excuse to do absolutely nothing about it...

Take care Lowell!

Marie

As I said before in another post, make sure you check all your options. Who wants to live with no feeling in one arm? If your doctor can't help, talk to a chiropractor. Mine gives a free x-ray on your first visit to let you know if he can help or not. A mis-aligned neck could cause numbness in the arms or hands. There are many other things that could cause it too, but it is better to check all your options before the problem gets worse. Don't let the doctors blow you off because you are diabetic. If you have it under control, your condition should not be getting worse.
