Did you know? National Diabetes Month.

November is national diabetes month. Tell three to four people a day and each of us can teach something about diabetes to 100 people. With 4086 members on this board alone that could amount to 408700 people that know something more about diabetes then the knew last month. One person can make an impact.

Did you know that diabetes kills more people every year then breast cancer and hiv combined?

Did you know that 1 in 400 to 600 children and adolescents in the US has type 1 diabetes?

Did you know that adults with diabetes have a 2 to 4 times higher risk for death from heart disease and stroke then other non-diabetic adults of the same age?

Did you know that in general, every percentage point drop in A1c level decreases your risk of complications by up to 40%? (ie from 8.0% to 7.0%)

soooo, yeah. go tell someone!

info snagged from American Diabetes Association Home Page and the National Diabetes Fact Sheet
