Hi. I posted here a while ago saying that I'd been an idiot and stopped taking care of myself, stopped testing regularly and so on.
I did get back on track. Started taking care of myself. The Dr was good. Didn't get me the big lecture that I feared (and, to be fair, deserved) and instead just helped me along.
But a lot of the credit has to go to this forum. I've spent a lot of time lurking and reading. I've learned a lot from you kind people in here and it's helped me realise this is something I can manage; I don't need to stick my head in the sand like a big overweight ostrich.
So thank you.
Just to update you, my Dr and I have both come to the conclusion that the tablets no longer do it for me, so I'm moving onto insulin from next week. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to teach me how to stick myself. Looking forward to that.

I can't speak for others, but the only needle that ever bothered me was the first one. Saying that, I still request the big chair for my blood tests because I am prone to fainting.

| | | It's good to hear that you're taking control. Insulin shots aren't bad at all. The needles now are tiny and you won't even feel them - okay maybe a little pinch or sting once in awhile, but they're mostly painless. They have pens that are extremely convenient to carry & use, so don't worry about it. I hope your training goes well next week.

If you're starting on insulin soon, dont forget we're all here ready and waiting for your questions. I myself have found this forum REALLY helpfull regarding any questions to do with, or related to insulin treatment. These guys helped me to realise what i really needed and now im doing it.
