| | | Wow, you're up late like I am. One thought, there are a ton of threads here talking about taking basal and bolus insulins. Why not print out a few and ask your GP why if it's the normal protocol to put people on both, why he thinks you don't need both. Obviously you think you do, we think you do, and we think your GP is an idiot. LOL If he won't give you any, ask him for his reasoning and don't leave until you have the answers you need!
I'd offer you my unopened bottle of Lantus, but I think I'd get in trouble for that!

| | | Well, my GP has the day off! What do you know? But I discovered something - I emailed my old endo in Tucson yesterday and I was shocked he didn't answer. Well, he did yesterday afternoon! It just didn't tell me that he had until I logged in today.
It sounds like he wants to see me, though, but I will be in Tucson this weekend. He said they start people on 5 units and then increase by 1-2 as needed. I am now waiting to hear back if he can get me in on Monday or Tuesday before we leave. I am really crossing my fingers here.

I was up late and then woke up early because I couldn't sleep. I've been a nervous wreck! Hopefully my old endo will come through (see above). Quote:

I actually had another offer (not here) and I was seriously considering it...but it would make it hard to convince the new endo I need it, because she would actually know how it works.

| | | Well, my GP called me (while I was on a plane so he got my voicemail) and I think it's pretty clear from his message that the problem is, he doesn't know that much about diabetes. He actually said, "I don't want to put you on the NPH..." I said, "NPH?!!!! What?!!!" Heh, I figured you guys would understand my horror.
Seriously, if I really wanted to be on NPH, I could go to a pharmacy and buy some. But I don't!! To be fair to the guy, NPH would be really bad for someone like me and maybe that's what he was picturing in his head. Maybe he doesn't know anything about Lantus. Oh, well. Time to find a new doctor.

| | | I take 10 units lantus every Am. I can get up early the next morning and run 6-7 miles and lift weights without taking in any carbs, Without any Hypos. ( I am pretty hungry when I am done though) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
