Severe itching?

Since I was diagnosed with T2, I've had these really severe itches in my feet. I seem to have them in spurts. They wake me up at night, usually, and I'm clawing at my feet trying to get it to stop. They're deep down inside my foot, not on the surface, and they're never in the same place twice. Does anyone else have this problem, and could it be related to neuropathy? And what makes it STOP???

Happens all the time with me and smetimes on my scalp, too. This may sound weird, but aspirin is the only thing that helps. I found out by accident one night. I woke with the itch on the ball of one foot about to drive me batty. I had forgotten to take a couple of my pills that I normally take at bedtime, so took them and 2 aspirin. I thought the aspirin would relieve the headache I also had. About 15 minutes later the itch was gone. I tried aspirin the next time, just because and figured it couldn't hurt. Now I do it everytime, and it always works. I have to take an aspirin everyday anyway. It also seems to lessen neuropahy somewhat.

Two aspirin, and I found I do not itch(anyplace)for several days after taking them. Don't know why it works, but it does.

I forgot, I take at least one full size aspirin every day, unless I forget, which often happens.

Ah, Ok. Guess I'll have to get me a bottle of "regular" strength aspirin! I take an 80mg baby aspirin every day. Guess that's just not enough to fix the itching situation? LOL Thanks Penny!

Aspirin! I just realized that since I've been taking an 80 mg aspirin consistently each day, I haven't had the itching nearly as often or as bad. Thanks for that little tip, and it's SO great to know that I'm not the only one who has these itches. My husband just can't comprehend the intensity of these itches. He's sympathetic, but he has never experienced it.

My itches aren't restricted to the feet. They are mainly on the front and back of the lower legs and the back of the arms.

I use Co-codamol tablets which is the analgesic my pharmacist recommended to go with my cocktail of medication. Seeing as others have found that Aspirin works, I would guess that any analgesic would do - which actually makes sense, since an itch is a reaction in the nerve.

Medication - Metformin 850mg x 3; Pioglitazone (Actos) 30mg x 1; Gliclazide 160mg x 2; plus stuff for hypertension & cholesterol with Aspirin E/C for the cardio/vascular system

I have to keep smiling - there's no other choice - but I do growl occasionally

My husband and I were discussing that yesterday. It's amazing that something as simple as an aspirin helps with itching!

It's a good job it does - I was desperate when my itches started - one night I woke up bleeding because I had scratched in my sleep. Fortunately the itches have reduced tremendously.

Its a side effect of high blood sugar. I was scratching my feet when I was heavily sedated in ICU apparently. Weird how the body works

I also itch like mad at times on my legs and feet. I hadn't linked it to when sugars are raised, but it probably is as I've been having problems lately. I can't take asprin, would paracetamol work?
