Lightbulb Would you like to stay in a diabetic hotel?

Hi all....I was wondering if you would like to stay in a hotel specially designed for diabetic people.

All menus are for diabetic people...All facilities and everything....Would you like such a place for holiday?

I will be happy if you can give your opinions...

I'm puzzled at how this would be any different from a normal hotel. Firstly, most hotels don't have a restaurant in them. Those that do, are fancy, and offer a large variety of options of food. There will always be something a diabetic can eat in a variety of ways.

Secondly, if you wantt o talk about Fitness, most hotels offer a fitness center. I can't think of any in our city (we have 18 currently in 7.7 square miles with 2 more being built soon) that do not offer a fitness center except for the cheapo ones (Red Roof Inn comes to mind first.)

I just don't see how this would be any different than a normal hotel.

To be honest that is something that I would hate!

For some strange reason it just makes me think of a hospital or convalesence home.

Diabetes is just something that I have and I don't like it to control my life, and as the others have already mentioned - there is no issue usually in a well appointed hotel anyway. Heck I don't even have problems accomodating my coeliac disease with most hotel menus.

Well, everything that had to be said had been said.

The only thing that hotel usually miss is Canderel or Splenda. If u want to have a diabetic friendly hotel, just make sure u provide some.

I think u should focus on providing for other disabilities such as blinds, deaf and hard of hearing, wheelchair users, etc...

Is this diabetic hotel a type 1 or 2 hotel?
Why the heck would anyone wish to be made to feel different by being labelled and treated differently from any other person?

I think if you wanted to "accomodate" us, you'd have to offer a mini (inexpensive! :****mate: ) drugstore for those who forget or run out of items while on trips (i.e. meters, strips, etc.), and have a mini pharmacy to fill prescriptions should a mishap occur. Other than that, I can't see Any reason to have a "Diabetic Hotel."

I'm not big on this idea either & since it's not being well-received, it's time to close this thread.
