Question Any ideas people??! Much Appriciated!!

Ok, so today I was at Uni & we went for a break @ 1030. Before the break I was feeling quite shakey and kinda sick, but I thought that might just be because I hadnt eaten breakfast --- but then I thought 'hey I never have breakfast anyway!!'
Then I went up some stairs, had this really intense dizzy feeling, bad shakes and felt sick to my stomach just before falling UP the stairs and back down again! (HOW EMBARRASING! Luckily I was with a group of friends & no-one else was around) I really hurt myself trying to break my fall. On the one hand I bent my fingers back and the other hand got crushed because I felt really weak to support myself!

I was on my way to get something to eat, and did so. (Sausage roll with cooked plum tomatoes & baked beans) Then about 10-15 mins later I checked my b/g levels (with stus spare meter I always carry in my bag) and I was 4.5... I know, not majorly low.
When I got back to class I still felt really sick, shakey and dizzy, but now also really tired and couldnt focus/pay attention??!

This isnt the first time something like this has happened.. Like for instance yesterday. I got home from uni, felt ok just a headache from the lecture!
Had some supernoodles for lunch, then about 30-45 mins after I felt really sick & so dizzy I couldnt stand up. Luckily I was in bed, and thought a nap would help, which it did a little but I still felt sick & dizzy a half hour later when I woke up.

I have been to the doctors 3 times before about this dizziness & sickness. Each time they say that there is nothing to worry about - But hello - i think there is?!?!?! This has been happening on and off for the past year and a half. Way before stu was diagnosed.
Its only within the last 3-4 months that my balance has reallly become affected.

Stu said that I might be hypoglycemic (sp - sorry guys!)
Does anyone have any other ideas??

I have ANOTHER Dr's appt booked, so any suggestions of what I could ask about when I go to see them would be MOST appriciated.

<3 Laura (Stu's S/O)

Doesn't really sound like low blood sugar, but it could be low 'something else'. Low blood pressure sounds like a possibility, low potassium too maybe (go eat a banana!). It could also be something else, like anaemia or ME.

I think we can rule out anaemia, as she's a blood doner and they test for that before you give blood.

Ah, then the two may be linked. How recently had you given blood before getting dizzy?

I used to donate prior to joining the 'club' as it were, i went for some general tests and the doc said we will check for anaemia, I said no need I donate and they check before each donation his reply "That test isnt reliable!!"

Never was quite sure if that is true or he was talking out the back of his head!!

I am no medic but does sound like low blood pressure to me.

it probably isn't, it's litterally just dropping a drop of blood in a solution and seeing if it falls to the bottom or not. lol

Does sound alot like low blood pressure at first thought. But it's the type of symptoms that could be a number of things.

Could it be linked to whatever contraception you may use or any other girly problems, my mate got terrible sickness and general feeling 'funny' symptoms with both th injection and the types of pill she tried. Just something to think about.

It could just be a lack of sleep...even too much sleep, or simply not enough fuel from skipping breakfasts. Hopefuly your doc' can get some answers.

My dads currently having tests for something pretty much the same, and it's just annoying because one set of tests have shown 'nothihng' to be wrong and we're waiting for the others. But being told there is nothing wrong when something clearly is, is just frustrating.

Let us know how you go

The odd part about this is the fact that you ate noodles and 30-40 minutes later you felt dizzy and shaky. Given the fact that noodles would raise your blood sugar dramatically, it does not sound like a low blood sugar issue.

I definitely would tell the doctor about your symptoms again. If you felt dizzy enough to fall down stairs and injure yourself, this is definitely not "nothing". Keep on your doctor until you get answers.

Oh - I just remembered that you said that you've had these symptoms for a year and a half! Not pregnancy. I used to suffer from low blood pressure and have passed out/fainted a number of times. I don't remember feeling sick though - just light headed, dizzy, bright light - then boom, down for the count. Doc told me not to worry about it either, which I think is strange too. Now that I'm diabetic though my blood pressure is normal - might have raised a bit because of my age? Good luck to you - hope everything's o.k.

Thanks for replies. I have my appointment in about an hour.
When I went to the Dr's before they said that I 'might' have low blood pressure & sent me on my way, saying it wasnt anything to worry about.

I just hate the attitude of Dr's 'nothing to worry about'. And i especially agree with notme; something cant be right - so I'm gunna try get them to maybe refer me to the hospital or something & get some clear answers.

I shouldnt be falling down stairs without any control over it!

Sorry for delay in replying...!
Went to the Dr's & she sais to me after I described the symptoms etc, that she thinks i might be hypoglycemic. I am going to have a fasting blood test on Wednesday. She's the first Dr who has taken me seriously; that there is something not quite right.

I think it might be a good idea for us to buy a blood pressure monitor from lloyds pharmacy For us both.
