how many times a year to see the doc?

how often do you see a doctor? I have to go every 3 months and it's getting on my nerves. It' mostly because of the meds I take ,blood tests to make sure their not destroying my liver and kidneys. And of course blood tests every3 mos. to check my bg's. How often do you all go?

4 times a year, that is if there's no unexpected trips.

I'm assuming it's different for T1 vs. T2 or insulin vs non-insulin dependent, but my doc saw me at diagnosis, 3 months later at which time levels were good, and now has given me an appt. in 6 months.

Andy, probably the best would be every 2 months. if your insurance allows it.
I go every 3 months. but I used to go more often.

I would have to set up 2 appt's at a time to get into my endo every 2 months, i'm lucky to get in every 3!

I guess I'm an "exceptional" case because I got really sick from a surgery last year.

I went no less than 50 times last year. That includes my PCP, my nutritionist, my CDE, a urologist (for kidney stone lithotripsy), my OB/Gyn (for depo shot and laparoscopy), MRI and CT scan people (for migraines and for spleen problems), a general surgeon (to see if I needed to have my spleen removed), several nurse practitioners (to qualify for my pump and make sure I was doing what they told me to), several ER docs (for migraine and kidney stone problems), two endos (one I hated and one I am with now), the Cozmo clinical nurse (to check up on my pump settings), my knee surgeon (to make sure the surgery was successful)... I could go on and on...

However, this year should be a bit different. So far I've seen my PCP three times to check my INR because of my spleen, my endo twice for starting Symlin and a follow up, and in March I will see a hemotologist because of my weird factor levels for blood clotting. After that, I will see my PCP for the INR once a month and my endo every three months. I am hoping that I won't have to see anybody else...

I go every 3-4 months, so 3-4 times a year. I don't mind going at all because I can get an A1C done to see how I'm doing. Besides the A1C, I really see no purpose in going because we just tweak my basal rates and carb ratios a tad each time which generally I already did the week before I went.

Seems like my average right now is about 3/month. I hope that goes down soon.

I go approximately 3 to 4 times per year, also. I think that's usually what they (doctors) recommend to help keep a check on the levels, management, etc. However, as with everything else, each person's different and what may or may not work for one...

I see my pcp once or twice a year, my GI once or twice a year, my endo every 3 months, and my eye doctor once a year. I go to the dentist every other year, if I'm lucky...

I seem to see my dr.'s quite often for one reason or another. It isn't that I enjoy going to the dr. all the time, but something always seems to come up that one or the other wants to see me for. Lately it's been the pump because I just started pumping, and blood pressure issues with my pcp, it's just always something.

I see my Doc every month, I don't know why, but he keeps a close eye on my bg's, not that I mind.

I see my CDE/nurse practitioner every 3 months. I see my primary care physician twice a year but if I can get my prescriptions coordinated, I'd like to see her only once. I'm supposed to go for a phsyical in April and if I can get new scripts for a full year's worth of my asthma meds I won't need to see her again until April 2008. My CDE writes scripts for all of my diabetes stuff.

I also need to make an appointment for an eye exam.
