HumaPen...oooooh

Has anyone tried one of these?? Or seen them before?!

Diabetic's Friend HumaPen Contains Needle, Insulin

I would *almost* consider going back to Humalog just to try out this pen!

It just became available in the US on Feb 1. I'm trying to think of a reason I should have one, and I can't think of any. But it does look nice. I love the part about 16 doses being over 2 weeks worth of insulin. Nice...

The funny thing is that Novo Nordisk does have a pen with a memory function - the Innova Pen - which it only recently stopped distributing. I am sure they will quickly release a new and imprtoved version.

The innova pen was a brick, not a pen imo. Not something that fit very easily in the pocket.

It looks like the humapen is going to require batteries as well. While the memory feature would be cool I don't want to have to carry or worry about replacing batteries. That said, my lantus pen has an LED and has like a 5 year battery life. Wonder what the batter life will be like on the humapen. It is a sleek looking pen.

Why? I like it. The needles are really slim too. Easy to transport around too. I looove lantus! It's my favorite insulin, but a rapid is oviously needed too. My lantus is so fine tuned if I eat nothing all day I run perfect.

Good looking pen. Can see someone needing a pen and walking up and pulling it out of a shirt pocket.

You mean the BD pen needles? Yeah, I used to get the short ones and those were ok. Then the pharmacy gave me long ones. OMG. Those are nothing short of scary. And totally inappropriate for me.

I have nothing against Lantus. Well, except my allergy to it. But it worked really well when I wasn't allergic to it.

I hate the pen. It's super long and ridiculous looking. It's so ugly, I hate it. And the plunger at the top was hard for me to push down. I couldn't do it with one hand. And I really had to push hard to get the plunger down, causing the needle to wiggle around in me. Ow.

I much prefer the flexpens. Or syringes. Or best, my pump.

It is long and odd looking. It took me forever to be able to push down the plunger with other fingers besides my thumb. I can relate to that, but now I can get it down no problem with either thumb or rither pointer fineer with no wiggling. Despite the pen being ugly it's a lot more easily portable and discreet than syringes.

What do you currently use for bolus insulin?

Nm- Novolog- yay diabuddies. Do you use the flexpen then? Or the novopen? But I didn't know if novolog came in pen fills for the novopen. Their website says they don't. Yay confusion.
