I'm about to try and buy some books on carbohydrates. Counting carbs etc.
Anyone know any really good ones.
Ones aimed at uk readers would be best too.
I posted this in here as the carb thread doesnt get all that many looks...

| | | Hello everyone,
What I would do, is to visit the local diabetes association web site, and see what information of books, be they Carb Counting, or other diabetes-related topics.
These folks seem to read and review the local literature, sometimes offer a bunch of free stuff themselves, and are almost always, an excellent place to start looking for books.
Another thought, we could all list our own best titles, and compile a list. Seems we have enough of us out there, so that a pretty decent list could be developed, and offered up.

| | | There are a lot of PDA based programs out there. The best method for locating the program that best fits you needs, is to use any search program, and use:
" carb+sounting+software"
for the search criteria (without the quotes, of course). There are now a lot of people using low-carb diets to help them loose weight and to fill this need, a lot of programs have been written .
Hope this helps.

| | | I have to say I have used the Calorie King carb counter and it is by far one the best ones I have come across. The software could use a little user interface tweaking but useful.
I would rate the booklet a 9 and the PDA software a 7. |

| | | Another vote for Calorie King. They also publish a nifty version for the Palm Pilot that's easy to search, with facility for creating your own database. |

I also found a book called Dr. Bernsteins diabetes solution. Revised and updated. It really really good! I've learnt so much more reading it than i ever would have done before. And its got tons of cool recipes at the back
:p
