| I have a friend who has an esophageal stricture and is unable to swallow large pills...she has had to get the liquid metformin a few years back...and ins. did not cover the liquid version, so she had to pay extra to have it specially ordered for her. I think it's great that there is an alternative...esp for those who are younger, older or have other problems making swallowing difficult.
I think it's mainly the excessive, super-sized lifestyle and lack of activity that is contributing to more kids getting T2 diabetes more than anything else. I don't see that having a liquid medication would do anything more than make it easier for these kids to be more compliant with their meds than in pill form.
