you're numbers are still looking good sweetblood (to ME anyway), just keep a close watch on it!! If they get to where they're consistantly over 125, I'd mention it to the doc. Your time for meds may be coming up sooner than you'd hoped.

My numbers started inching up slowly over a couple of months too ... I told my doc and he switched my meds up to see if that worked, but it didn't ... got worse infact, so he put me on insulin.

My numbers NEVER loooked as good as yours do now tho, even WITH meds!!

potassium pills I assume you are talking about. I know they have some powdered **** you add water to I think it is, they gave me some when I was Dx'd ...BUT I know that they do have a small pill, because my brother in law takes it. He can't swallow the big pills either. Ask the doc or pharmacist about it.

But in the meantime, yes a bannana's work (altho you gotta watch them for raisin the BGL tho )

So are you doing anything to increase your potassium? Usually increasing potassium is a pretty simple matter, but you must tend to it daily.

What A1c did you have upon diagnosis of diabetes? I thought previously you had said you were testing levels in the 200s and 300s during the day. Now it sounds like you are doing better. Perhaps that is because you have stopped drinking sugared beverages.

I hope that you can get your prescription for test strips re-written so that your insurance will cover a greater number. If you know how to use the info from your blood glucose tests, you could just go ahead and pay out of pocket (assuming your pockets have some dollars in them!). Personally, I would give up a lot of things in order to have enough test strips to really help me keep on track. Fortunately, my M.D. understands how informative and motivating testing is, and has never hesitated to write a prescription for an appropriate amount.

When I was having problems with leg cramping, one of the docs I work with said when he has this happen, he takes a tsp of salt substitute (which, I believe, is just potassium chloride) and mixes it with a glass of orange juice . He said to do this every other day for a week and see if it helped. I tried it with s/f koolaid...it wasn't a great taste, but was tolerable, and the cramps resolved. Not telling you to try this, but I did and it didn't kill me...yet
