Question Do I have Diabetes?

Hello, I have had some symptoms lately and was wondering if perhaps i should be checked for diabetes (my grandfather had it, im not sure if you have a greater risk). My symptoms are: -constant hunger, even right after i eat and even though i have 3 good meals and snacks all day.
-occationally feel nausious for no reason.
-quite thirsy, only slightly above average
-occasional headaches (at least one per week)
-waking up tired after 8 hours of sleep
-random dizzyness...very rare, only 2 times the past 2 months and for a very short time.

these are some that ive noticed, i know they can also be related to pregnancy but i am on the pill and have not missed any so i find that cause unlikely. The hunger if probubly the worst of the symptoms, no matter what i eat (more protein, fibre, ect.) i just cannot get full! hopefully someone can help me out a little, thanks alot!

There's a sticky thread on this very page that says 'Think you have diabetes?'

I suggest you read it, it explains that we cannot diagnose you over the internet and that if you are unwell then your first port of call should be a doctor, not us.

Perhaps you should have used different wording in your topic title. Something like "what diabetes symptoms prompted you to see a doctor?".

For myself, excessive thirst and frequent urination were the first indications. I should have gone to the doctor at this point but I stubbornly waited until I became so tired that I could barely function before I sought medical attention.

I was tested for diabetes by my endo. I was seeing her for other reasons and mentioned my yeast infection from ****. Random BG was 26.3. Other symptoms I had at the time were extreme thirst, constantly having to pee, slow healing, dry mouth and exhaustion.

Funny, before all of this, I hated having to take 5 pills a day (2 meds), now I'm up to 11 (7 meds).

Your best bet is to see your doctor and get tested. With those symptoms, it could be many things, but there's no sense it worrying. Just go see your GP.

The only one who can tell you if you have it is a doctor. Make an appointment with one and get checked out

If you cannot find a doctor at the moment find a diabetic who has a meter and get a test done and see that you're are 6mmol/l or 100mg/dl if whey over that then see a doc or better an endocrinologist as soon as possible!! I don't want to alarm you but may be??

Your first step should be to find a doctor and have a fasting blood sugar and Hgb A1C done to give you a definitive diagnosis. If you have diabetes, we can and will gladly help. We would be doing you a grave disservice to reassure you one way or another about your potential diagnosis of diabetes. Obviously, you suspect something is "not right" and should definitely seek medical advice.

All the best,
Linda
