Basal Test (again)

I decided to starve myself today and do another basal test.
The reason I'm posting it now is because I'm going to try and go as long as possible without eating just to see what happens and by telling you people I've kind of made a contract, get it? Now if I reneg (just because I'm hungry), then I've wussed out LOL. (And there is a salad with chicken and artichoke hearts waiting in the fridge downstairs that I'm dying to eat)....

So, here goes so far.

Last night I went to bed early so my night test (which was also my 2 hour post meal because of a late dinner) was: 9.4 (169)

Today:

6AM: 5.2
8AM: 5.0
10:30AM: 5.5
12:15PM: 4.8

You are braver than I am Injecto, I hate being hungry, lol. Just remember the food in the fridge when this is over!

Sounds to me like your basals are a little too high, and 73 is too low for my comfort when basal testing. I'd stop the test, eat!, adjust things a little, and try again.
What do your current rates look like? For me, 0.05/hour more or less can make a huge difference, so I make very small adjustments.

Personally, I think you're nuts to go that long without eating, but more power to you for being able to do it. I can't ever manage to do that, so I break my basal test up into 4 parts: overnight, before lunch, before dinner, and before bedtime. It only means skipping one meal at a time.
Good luck, and hang in there!

Well, it's 3:05PM and I'm at 3.8 (68). So, I'm eating. I've gone 20 hours without food, and now I'm having a big salad.

That's a pretty impressive series of numbers though. Looks like you might be able to use a little less basal starting in the late morning but overall... pretty **** good!

I hardly think this has only been done by Canadians.
Admittedly, I AM CANADIAN and I did something
similar.

I woke up with an 11.7 on March 11th. I couldn't
believe it. I checked off anything that could have
caused it and came up with nothing. I took my Insulin
and my numbers wouldn't come down, just rose.

So I went 58 hours just consuming tea w/milk, water
and sugarless apple juice. I was testing frequently,
of course. I did have a handful of almonds and walnuts
the second day to decrease the hunger pangs. That's
how long it took to get my sugars back to normal.

After that, I lowered my Insulin since my sugars were
going a bit too low for my liking. So I'm almost at my
normal doseage again and my sugars are mostly level.
My system was just having a hiccup. Happens occasionally.

Way to go. I think you deserve a steak supper.
