Odd story of the day...

Just ran across this one, and it's one of the odder stories I've seen.

Just wondering, any of our regulars first "show" up with GDM, and if so, does this ring true to you?

It seems like an odd one, but I think we might find that if we looked at the study more closely the sample would be fairly limited, therefore it might be a coincidence.

Might also be that shorter people are more likely to end up with a higher BMI, which might be influential in causing T2, at least.

The oddest thing about this article is the way it's patched together. For ten paragraphs it correlates the leg to height ratio to GDM. Then the eleventh paragraph jumps to programming in intrauterine development causing different desease later in life, in the first sentence. However the second and last sentence takes another leap to the conclusion that risk for type 2 is an acquired condition, and since it is acquired it maybe preventable. So while the leg to height ratio is interesting the article on a scale of 1 to 10 rates almost a 1.:smartass:

I found the article very interesting.

With my first pregancy I developed GDM. After my son was born, I was dxd with T1 shortly after.

The funner part is I do have very short legs. When I had my son I was 5'2", about a year or so later I was 5'3", but it didn't come from my legs. If I buy petites, they are always still long in length enough to have most items shortened.

Just thought you might find this interesting.
