Good News from the Doc

I had my First check-up since being diagnosed just 6 weeks ago, results:

Weight loss: 20 pounds! 15 more to go! (doc says 5 more)
tryglycerides: 135 (was 270!)
Hdl: 43 Ldl: 73
A1C: 6.9 (sounds kind of high to me)

My doctor was soo impressed,as well as the nurses. I will see him again in 2 months, and he said,he has never seen such a turnaround in a patient, in that short of time! and as long as I keep doing what Im doing, he wants to pull me off a lot of my meds by my next visit, including cutting the metformin dose in 1/2! Praise God for these results, and thanks to all of YOU guys for the information I have recieved since I first joined! I still find MUCH more believable info here, than on a lot of the so called "informative" websites, plus you all are AWESOME!

Thats great! Keep it up.

What was the original A1c?

I too was a great turn around patient! hehe My first a1c was 8.9 brought down to 5.5 in just 3 months, and lost 45 lbs in 3 months. I cannot remember my Tryg. or cholesterol but I do know it was back to normal and below the high levels.

6.9 is a great one of you came down any at all. You will strive for better results as we all do. Just hang in there.

well now, you are right its not much, but dont cut your self short.... just keep pluggin away at it. any drop is better than none at all, or even a step in the wrong direction and go up instead of down lol...

those other things have turned way around which means the diet is working for somethings.

Awesome results, keep up the good work!

And was that A1c of 7.0, was that at time of diagnosis?? Because thats actually a really good/low reading for a pre diagnosis result. When I got diagnosed with type 1 my A1c was around 14.0, lastest one was just below 7.0

YaY Bryan!!!
If your A1c isn't at 6.5 or below next time, don't let him take you off the meds just yet, unless you are willing to go ultra low carb! I still think 6.9 is an awesome number It's what my first one taken was! I've no clue what I was "in the beginning" somewhere between 10 and 14 I'm sure (probablly closer to the higher end).

I may have a pretty good A1c, but I don't think my cholesterol stuffs are that good I'll have to wait until Sept. to find out what they are, as apparently somebody forgot to check off the Lipids Panel for the lab work I had done last week! But the one I had done in Jan well, it wasn't very good - Total (or is it Tryglicerides?? I'm still not on the up and up about this stuff! LOL) 252 .... HDL: 47 .... LDL: 173 It's in my family tho, so that just maybe the way I am! *shrugs*

Glad your #'s are improving...Awesome cholesterol #'s...I'm having "Lipid-envy."

I agree with Melissa, I wouldn't go off the meds until I was in the "normal" range (4-6).

Bryan, YOU are awesome! That is an incredible accomplishment in just 6 weeks. Just have to work on the A1C a little. What was your last reading? You should be very proud of yourself.
