Oh Yes, I Did It!

I have heard the best news ever yesterday, I went for my checkup and found that I had reversed any damage I had done through my great control.

I did have HBA1c's of around 11-14 for 4 or 5 years and suddenly I put everything I could into getting things right and it worked.

I was told 6 months ago that my eyes were showing signs of diabetic damage which has now gone, I had neuropathy which is now going and I generally feel so much better.

I also put on some weight which is awsome because I am a farly slim guy and one of those who find it hard to put on weight.

I am loving being on 2 injections a day (sometimes 3) and eating what I want still, the highlight of my whole journey to getting fit is when I had a lovely jam sandwhich which I have not had in 9 years and understanding how to keep my blood sugar stable.

I have made such a change that I have been in a couple of magazines and I am doing a conference for "Diabetes UK" about being young and promoting the fact that you don't need to be on more than 2 injections a day.

You can have great control with 2 injections a day, if you feel like stuffing your face then I sometimes need 3 but I never have and never will do anymore than 3.

I don't know if this post makes much sense but I am just in such a good mood I feel like telling the world

I really now want to help others who may struggle with managing their diabetes so if you want to talk then please do.

Well the motovation came from when I was told my eyes were a little damaged BUT I could change that if I started taking life seriously and then I found this forum which helped me on my road to control.
