| | | Jan 18, 1983 exactly one year to the day after my brother's diagnosis.
Not sure how long symptons showed before diagnosis but my mom knew exactly what it was since my brother had the same symptons at diagnosis.

| | | Spring, type 1, symptoms for 3-4 weeks, during which time I was visiting my brother in Boston for a vacation devoted to trying new restaurants. I taxed my poor beta cells to the point of no return, and experienced no honeymoon after diagnosis. Even for a type 1, 3 weeks is a fairly short period of time to fry your betas, but I had some Good Food! |

| | | It was February for me. That was 39 years ago and I was 10 so I don't remember much. I do remember drinking a lot of water and urinating a lot. I also remember being hungry all the time and losing weight but I don't remember when it started. The only time I remember being sick was that morning I went into the hospital. I felt so bad that day I didn't want to go to school. I can't remember feeling sick before then.

| | | I was dx'ed in July. Type 1. I'd had a variety of symptoms at the severe level for about 7 weeks...but i didn't realize they were related to one another, and sort of rationalized them all off. My doc took a MAJOR history and told me he thought I'd been showing signs, although small, for about 10 years.

| | I was dx'd T2, August 17 2005. Other than High BG (and a nasty yeast infection [eW] when dx'd) I can't say I had any symptoms that I could/can recognize. I've pretty much always drank alot of fluids, therefore went potty alot! I did however have high BG's (200 on up) for at LEAST 3 years previous to dx. I just didn't know then, what I know now!

| | | October 21 years ago this October. I think I showed signs for about three weeks and then was sick as a dog for about another three weeks. Lost about thirty pounds and was hospitalized at the end for 8 days or so. |

| | | I was dx'ed with T1 in April of 2002... I had been experiencing symptoms for quite a while, but put off seeing a doctor due to no insurance covg. @ the time. Finally, I had to bite the bullet and go- I felt that awful. It goes w/o saying that it's changed my life forever.

was sick/had symptoms for about 5 years | Hi Sharon:
Holy Cow 5 years? Why weren't you dxd. sooner??
December/Type 1/dxd. age 3. My 2 older Brothers
were both dxd. at age 4, so my Mom kept a look out
for the same symptoms with me. So it didn't take
long before I was on the shots.
Our country Doc had sent my oldest Brother to a
Hospital in the city when he dxd. him. The Doctors/
Nurses caused him to have not one but 2 bad seizures
while he was there. After that our Dr. refused to send
me and my younger Brother to a Hospital. He just told
Mom how much Insulin to give us. With just the urine
testing back then, I wonder how he figured how much
Insulin but we did have lots of seizures and highs. Oh well...
