Thanks soremom and Lorna.

Lorna, In response to your question about hypos, I've had 1 "bad" hypo so far. I didn't pass out or anything but I was shaking and sweating like crazy and I didn't feel that I could walk anymore after going to grab some glucose tabs out of my car. I learned the hard way that a regular bolus and pizza don't mix very well. .

I do tend to stay at the low side of "normal" most of the time but I've had my moments in the 200 + range.

LauRa....the A1c test is a blood test that returns your average blood glucose level over the last 120 days by measuring the amount of glucose stuck to the red blood cells. Some studies now indicate it is weighted more towards the last 4-6 weeks, though.

My last A1c was 5.7.

My last one on May 17th was 6.2. Been a diabetic for about 11 years now and happy to say that my overall 11 year average is about 6.6. When I was on Lantus (the devil), I had a A1C of 5.5 but felt like ****. I can live with HA1C's in the low 6's.

Mine started at 7.8 back in September, went to 7.5 for December and February.

Now it's at 7.0 and hopefully still coming down. )

The doctor at least seems to be happy with my current diet/exercise/herbal regime.

I just got mine back yesterday; it was 5.2, down from 5.3 three months ago.

I know I’ve seen somewhere where it breaks down what the #'s are. Like 100-200 is 9 and 200 to 300 is 10.... can someone post those numbers again. Please and thanks in advance.

Jared, here's a conversion chart from A1c to average daily glucose,

A1c__________mg/dL__________mmol/L
12.0% ---------- 345 ------------- 19.5
11.0% ---------- 310 ------------- 17.5
10.0% ---------- 275 ------------- 15.5
9.0% ---------- 240 ------------- 13.5
8.0% ---------- 205 ------------- 11.5
7.0% ---------- 170 -------------- 9.5
6.0% ---------- 135 -------------- 7.5
5.0% ---------- 100 -------------- 5.5
4.0% ----------- 65 -------------- 3.5

Keep in mind these are rounded numbers; the calculation is A1c=BG+77.3/35.6
