Miy dh is a long distance truck driver who drives a big rig. Two weeks ago, I decided to travel with him. One evening, I opened the door to the truck and propped it open while talking to my dh. Well the door closed on its own, trapping my foot, leg and ankle. I screamed as it was very painful and had a sore leg that evening. The next day, I expected it to be very bruised and sore, but this did not happen. There was a small bruise but not much pain at all. It has not given me any trouble for the past two weeks, but this morning, I noticed a very big bruse on my foot, ankle and leg. It also hurts a little. I'm a bit concerned due to my being diabetic and having a foot injury. There is no swelling, just a big discoloration and soreness. My questions are, is this the normal process of healing, should I be overly concerned and what can I do to heal this faster? Thanks.

It's generally open wounds that you need to worry about, not this type of injury, but you should defintely go to the doctor anyway just in case there is something circulatory going on..

Unless you are taking blood thinners Staceyy, I wouldn't worry too much. If it swells or gives you a lot of pain then call your doctor. I have extreme bruising from my foot surgery last week. My toes are black and my ankle is purple black and yellow. I went in for my check up after surgery and my doctor was not unduly concerned. Ice and keep it up was his suggestion.

Sorry your foot got smashed. Ouch!

See a doctor. This is normal. The key is to nurture it and let it heal. The greatest 2 reasons for diabetic amputation, from what I know of it, is:

1) Not getting circulation to your feet and hands. Walk around, make sure your cardiovascular (this includes microvascular, especially in limbs) circulation is making complete loops.

2) Watch and don't ignore injury. If your toe's start turning a gross yellow and your feet are turning purple, you just might want to see a doctor. This reads so obvious, but you'd be surprised.
