I love french toast. I use Nature's Own wheat bread which has about 7 net carbs per slice. Where in the world did you find sugar free syrup?

Lou, SF syrup has been around for a long time. Not all of them taste very good...however, I found Smuckers to make a really nice SF syrup. It's in the breakfast aisle at most supermarkets.

I bought a "No sugar added - sweetened with Sucralose" syrup from a Shoppers Drug Mart believe it or not! The brand name is E.D. Smith, and it tastes awesome!

If there are "Cracker Barrell" restaurants "way up there ," they have a great s/f syrup. You can also buy it in their gift shop. If you're coming south soon, you should have b/fast there and buy some. Also, IHOP has a s/f syrup "Cabot" brand that's not bad.

I've found most of the sugar free syrups to be acceptable. Some even better than the corn syrup ones that they replaced. Real maple syrup has always been a little too sweet for me so the s/f has been a good thing.
As far as pancakes and waffles, there has been many posts on the whole wheat or buckwheat pancake mix being ok.
I've not had problems with french toast if its on thin whole grain bread. Some real vanilla extract and lots of eggs make all the difference

thanks everyone. Now I can eat french toast again. I have all the ingredients on hand. I'm not a great cook so I am having to learn lots of little tricks. keep telling me all the secrets and I can sneak them in for my family to try as well. I never hurts to lower their carbs a little too.

I use a light wheat bread (8g ea) to make my french toast. I usally make a dozen pieces, eating two, and then freezing the rest (2 slices ea) in ziploc baggies. The next time I'm in the mood for french toast, I then take them out & pop them in the toaster.

I use Howard's Sugar Free Syrup. Each 1/4 cup has 2 calories, 0 fat and only 1g of carbs and no sugars. It's a bit thin, but it tastes very good. For those living in the New England area, you can purchase it at your local Stop & Shop. Here's the website: http://www.howardfoods.com/index.html
