My oldest brother has no pancreas.

He lives 1700 miles away and is 72yrs old. We haven't kept in close touch for many years for various reasons, but I recently heard from him and the email exchange got on to diabetes as I was just dx'd a little over a year ago.

Turns out he was T2 for quite some time and I didn't know it. I'd been telling the doc, even before my dx, that I had no D in my family...wrong!

Anyway, he had some sort of growth on his pancreas, not cancer, and had his pancreas removed and obviously takes insulin shots now. So I guess he's officially a double D now, the worst of both worlds.

Wow Mike, that's weird eh?! No pancreas.......I wonder if your bro has to take any other medications because the pancreas does more than just make insulin.(?)

I'm not sure Tanya. I think he still needs some oral meds for the insulin resistance but I'm not sure. He had heart surgery many years ago so he might be on something for that as well.

My dad only made it to 65 and bro is 72 so even though he's had his troubles he's still around as are the middle two brothers.

I should probably try to get out to Phoenix sometime to visit.

Thanks for the reply.
