| | | Any one Diabetic and Celiac disease? I was just curious to see how many of you that were diagnosed with diabetes have celiac disease or have even ever been tested for it given your diabetic status? |

| | | I've been tested for celiac but I am not. I am t1 diabetic. My Daughter (2)and nephew (8) are celiac. My daughter was just diagnosed. I also have a niece (9)who has Cystic Fibrosis. |

| | I haven't been tested, but I suspect at the very least a gluten intolerance. Apparently it's quite common for T1 diabetics to also have celiac. So far I dont feel the need to do the testing - if I can see the issue myself and deal with it then why bother.
I've been 99% gluten free for the last two weeks, and all of a sudden I don't have sinus trouble, don't feel so grumpy, and I'm not all puffed up from retaining water. WOOHOO!
Since I mostly gave up bread already, except my one piece of toast for brekkie, the transition has been fairly easy. Sorta. Well it'll always be annoying! However if I was to be really honest I'd tell you that I've been trying to go gluten free for well over a year now lol. Success now.. finally
It's a pain having to stay away from foods that most of the population consider staples, eh! Gluten is *everywhere*, or so it seems, espcially when you're not having it.
