Ravenous

I got home last night and saw some leftover chips on the counter. So I decide, hey, why not, eat a few of them. But then I started munching more and more until I literally held the bag up and shoved them all down my throat. Then I started going throught the cupboards frantically looking for food and eating everything I could find (Cookies, crackers, Salmon in the frids etc...) when all of a sudden I realized how ravenous I was acting, like an animal. I regained my composure and decided to test only to find out that I was hypo..... Weird as heck because I had none of my usual symptoms and I wasn't actually hungry until I started the chips, but I just became a ravenous eathing machine.

Sounds like a slow hypo where you drift lower rather than dropping like a stone.
Don't like either but they are part of the landscape.
Were the cookies chocolate at least?

There was a show on one of the cable health channels....I think it was called "Pushing The Body Limits"....something like that anyway. It had segments about people who were in drastic situations, starving or injured etc. and how they survived. One guy who was stranded on a lifeboat for 70 days, survived because he ate the eyeballs or liver of fish he caught. The point was, our bodies have a way of making us do something that we need to do to survive.....the man started craving these food sources he normally would throw away. Turns out these parts had something in them the man needed that he did not get from the fish flesh. I have awakened in the middle of the night really craving strange things, like donuts, things I never eat. Then I go looking for anything to satisfy that craving, taking bites of this and that, because I really want a donut. If I test, I am almost always having a really bad low. Your body was just taking care of you.
If you get a chance, you should watch that show....if I see it again, I willl post the name and cable channel. There was much of interest on it.

Mmmm fishy eyeballs

Sounds like an interesting show... I believe that our bodies do know what it is we need, but we have grown up without really listening.

I hope your blood sugar didn't climb that high after eating all the food you ate! LOL

I had a similar episode last week with a bag of Doritos that my son left on the counter. "Just a few" turned into way too many!

I dreamed of eating ice cream last night only to wake up and find I was low!
