| | | so? What's wrong with half a bottle of wine.
I've already had 2 martini's and the wine with no bad effects at all.
Funny part is sometimes I think I've splurged but when I test all is fine. I ate like a horse on New Years eve but tested at 120.
But every once in a while a Big Mac and fries. Ohh my.

| | | Thanks for voting guys. Since I didn't really splurge according to some, next time I'm going to have a couple more onion rings and the Jalapeno peppers next time. mmm
I was a little worried about going to a restaurant like that but the kids wanting some good ole burgers and shakes and I wasn't going to stand in the way. |

| | R2, sounds like you didn't do too badly for your first splurge! You made good decisions and checked your blood sugar...so i'd say you handled it well. Good for you.
When I really want a burger on bun at a restaurant, i'll pick you the inside of the thick homemade bun, leaving just a thin bun on top and bottom...I feel like i've had a "normal" burger this way, without all the carbs. I also "share" hubby's fries, taking 4-5 to have with my burger. As I do this very infrequently, I haven't notice a negative effect on my blood sugars....unfortunately, its not as "weight friendly" as it is blood sugar friendly for me!

| | | I typically eat whatever I want and just count the carbs.. works for me.. usually. I'm not huge on desert and sweets though, so it usually amounts to around 300g per day.

| | As a matter of fact I plan to spurge today ) That means McDonald's. Now I am pretty new to T1 and insulin, but have found that two hours after my spurge BG is around 140 so that's not so bad I guess? |

| | | I probably splurge a couple of times a month. I had a small cheeseburger and side salad the other day, but it was well within my carb exchanges for the meal, so it wasn't bad. Last time was last week and I ate at the Indian restaurant buffet. I was SOOOO bad! Didn't check my sugar. Couldn't stand the thought. LOL. But I've been desperately good since then.
I am going to have a real chocolate malt one of these days, though. When I'm averaging below 100 and I've lost 35 pounds.

| | | Well, I was ordered by my PCP to ease up control and start eating lots more different types of food. She felt that I was not eating enough "Fun Stuff" since my A1cs have always been so good.
After I made a list of week's food that I had the week before, she just congratulated me on being able to estimate insulin needs so well and she hasn't said anything about what I eat any more. lol
