| | | I Splurged Today Generally speaking, do any of you spurge while eating?
I have been doing really good watching what I eat. I also remember reading davef's post about "Worried I might be slipping." So as a T2, I splurged today and boy it tasted good. Took the family out to lunch and had a burger with cheese lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. I took the burger out of the bun and had maybe 5 onion rings with unsweetened Ice-coffee. Felt a little bad but it didn't really do anything to my BG and I wasn't stuffed at the end of the meal like I use to.
So the question is, do any of you spurge and if you do, do you do it once a month, once every few weeks, once a week, once a day (of course that would be a small spurge) or just never? |

| | | I do.... I give myself two times a month to be me.... It is working great for me my last 7 day BS 96, 30 Day 104... I don't plan it, if something happens and I have been good for a week or two I enjoy myself. Next day jmp back on schedule and life goes on. I think of it as a reward to myself for losing weight, working out and having the big "D".
You took the Burger out of the bun, only had a few onion rings you did all right! Had Unsweetened drink! ****, I don't think you splurge at all...

| | | My exact answer would be rarely, but I put once a month. I have pretty good eating self control. Shopping self-control is what I need more of!! I've been spending a lot of money at the grocery store. I'm picking foods that work well with my eating plan -- they just are not fitting in my old budget!

| | I eat what i want, when ever i want it, and deal with the highs if and when they come Have been pretty good with the sweets lately, but today well, saturday, big TV evening so me and my flatmate decided to just enjoy the evening with dinner and snacks in front of the TV The snacks included a lot of candy And i had quite a lot of it Should maybe have taken a few units more though Currently @16mmol/l at 1am, but other than feeling like **** from being this high, i feel great

| | | I do - but as a type 1 using insulin, I can get away with that so long as I plan a little and check my BG often.
Your splurge didn't sound like much at all! Where are the chocolate biscuits and caramel sundae? lol

| | | * hangs head in shame *
Yesterday, I ate a chocolate .
I didn't test my BG as I felt awful & went to bed for an extended nanna nap.
It was the first Fuzzy Head I've had since the week after Dx in Dec07.
I had to cancel a planned outing with friends because I didnt feel clear enough to drive.
It tasted wonderful but wasn't worth the experience |

| | | I splurge frequently. As stated a few posts down, it is easier to splurge as a T1. My splurges are usually at Starbucks, Caribou, or Beaners...

| | My splurge today included quite a lot of chocolate, some hard candy, some sugarfree winegums (heck, have to think about my health a little bit anyways) and biscuits with cream cheese on top And this was after a dinner that included rice (wholegrain, for once!) I haven't been this "bad diabetic" since christmas LOL But now it's time to go refill the waterbottle, take another trip to the loo, have a correction dose of rapid and then try to sleep

| | | I try to never splurge but I do.
I call it "panic eating"; I wake up in the middle of the night with a critical low and cannot seem to stop eating until my BG is above 140.

| | Hi Sundays is usually my BAD day. My husband and I go for lots of drives. He is a mad Detector (old and new coins etc)
So its often macdonalds or burger King for lunch A burger (I try for one with some vegies on it. ) Then if its Macafe a muffin or cake and a skim milk coffee. I have inproved as I used to have fries as well.!!
Having the burger without the bun to me is not splurging but being in control.
I was told NOBODY's Perfect and I can assure you I'm NOT a NOBODY
Take care form alicat61 |

| | | I splurged tonight. I broke down at a buffet. They had a chocolate fountain. I was a reformed chocoholic. Hadn't had any in the last four months. I blew it tonight. Dipped the tip of a strawberry into it. It was soooooo good. Other's were skewering four/five strawberries and dipping the whole thing into the fountain. I had maybe half a teaspoon but can no longer claim to be chocolate free. Hanging head in shame and looking for a Chocolate Anonymous Support Group. |

| | | I agree that you were still very reasonable! Removing the bun was a big step in the right direction to me! I think this is what good control and habits are all about. Allowing yourself to have some of the old things again but with a new sensible approach!
Today I did have something I haven't had in almost 2 months.... a strawberry lemonade at Longhorn. First non-diet drink I've had in forever! It didn't seem to mess up my BG though!

| | | Splurge night for me! What a coincidence! Spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, parmesian cheese, and a nice cold glass of milk. Of course, bolus city, but hey, it has got to happen now and then to insure not just longevity, but quality of life.
