1. What type of diabetes do you have? Type 2

2. At what age were you diagnosed? 41

3. What type of treatment are you using? Oral Medication, Metformin 500mg x 2 daily, low carb diet

4. Do you control it yourself (testing, insulin)? If not, who does? I test myself, no insulin

5. How many times a day do you test yourself? Generally 4-6

6. Does it affect your confidence level at all? No, I can do more things now than I could before I was diagnosed

7. Are you more careful with your diabetes when you are out with your peers? No

8. How many times a week do you exercise? 2-3 times on good weeks, zero on bad weeks

9. How many times a week does your blood glucose go low?
Rarely, not every week

10. How many times a week does it go high? I rarely allow it go above 140, maybe once every two weeks.

11. Have you ever been to some time of camp or a support group for diabetes? This forum is my support group

*** Could I suggest that if you are using this questionaire again that you consider defining what you mean as "low", as you will find (even here) that "low" has a different meaning for each person. I "feel" low at 70-72, whereas others don't have that feeling until much lower (50-60)

Hope this helps,

4. Do you control it yourself (testing, insulin)? If not, who does? Yes, because I am not an infant.

5. How many times a day do you test yourself? about five. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

6. Does it affect your confidence level at all? Overall, I'd say no, although it probably does contribute to my understanding that I get get through things that are at first scary and threatening.

But we are not talking ketoacidosis high. We are not even talking American Diabetes Foundation blood-glucose-under-180-two-hours-after-eating high. We are talking slipperyelm-wants-to-be-105-or-lower-after-2 hours high

11. Have you ever been to some time of camp or a support group for diabetes? No.
