| | | oh, now what?! My numbers have been pretty all over the place the last week and a half. They've been going over 200 at least once a day lately. Now I've been under some stress of course but this is scaring me. I haven't been this bad since right after diagnosis.
Today I woke up at 93, but it's been going up all day; before dinner was 219; I ate 3 carbs, took 5u Novolog, 3 for the carbs and 2 for the high, and now it was 220, about 3.5 hours later. I don't feel sick, just tired from these higher numbers.
When I got my Lantus prescription filled they gave me 5 pen cartridges and I'm just now on the last one since I don't take that much. I also have tons of Novolog that they sent me last fall before my insurance started. So I don't know if my insulin has gone bad, my honeymoon has ended or what else is going on.
Should I go to the doctor? I don't have any ketone strips to test. I'm just kind of scared and feel out of control; I need to get my a1c down and I'm failing miserably. |

| | | Oh, one other thing I just thought of. I'm still trying to gain weight; the other day the scale said I was up to 128 lbs. Today it said 126 but with my weight going back up maybe I need to take more Lantus, huh? I hope that's all it is. :/ |

| | | Sweetie, I think you're under a lot of stress right now. I would give yourself a week or two of wacky numbers before the stress completely wears off (if then, even). |

| | | Give it some time. You may be getting sick and dont know it yet, stress plays a big issue and stressing over the BG's adds to it. If after another week or so and the numbers havent dropped, then consult your Dr. about increasing your Lantus.

| | | Dar,
You have a lot on your plate at the moment and the stress you have from your Dad being in hospital could be responible for the higher numbers.

| | Yesterday was better. I upped my Lantus to 7/7u. My highest test was 176, after I came home from work (and had nibbled on some, er, verboten things at work. )
We'll see how today goes. I still don't feel like I'm sick so that's good. Woke up at 100 on the nose today. |

| | Sure enough, I've been fighting hypos the last couple of days. I reduced my Lantus again (5/5).
Yesterday was weird though. In the morning I rode my bike over to my other job to get my paycheck. Worked at my bakery job all afternoon; was 64 around 3pm so I ate an apple turnover and nibbled on some cookies. After work I had to go to WalMart to pick up cat food for my mom. Then on my way home my car started dinging at me and I noticed the temperature gauge was on hot so I pulled into a parking lot and walked the rest of the way home (1-1 and 1/2 miles or so.) I was at 160 when I started out and 112 when I got home. Then my mom came and we went to the hospital for a while. I was at 90 when we got back.
So today my mechanic is taking my car and I'll have to ride my bike to work the next couple days. We think my car has a busted radiator hose. At least it isn't as windy as they said it was going to be here today.
I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. I swear, if anymore weird stuff happens I'm going to go insane and eat the liver of every person in a five mile radius. ****, I'm never going to gain any weight back if I keep going like this! (and yes I did eat regular meals in there; I just don't feel the need to put them in every story. :|) |

| | | Apparently Lantus doesn't have a long shelf life.
I've been feeling like absolute trash for a couple of day and when reading the info page inside the Lantus box it says that the vial should be discarded 28 days after starting. I'm a few days over 28 days so I think my Lantus is done.
I'm getting my BG down with the Novorapid but they creep up between injections so I'm off to the drugstore in the am. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
