Serioulsly, how do you have "extra" insulin (probably a question for another topic, but)? |

| | | I get 9 vials in 60 day time span. I am on a pump and sometimes do not use all of the insulin but the script is written "just in case" I eat all the carbs I am suppose to and a few extra.

| | | Okay.
I got a couple extra bottles a couple years ago because CVS messed up and gave me four Humalogs instead of two; I called them and the pharmacist basically said "Merry Christmas, our mistake..." which is cool because it is nice to have a buffer just in case (I have once in my life broken a vial). Still, I thought of selling the extra to a bodybuilder...

Oh, I also found out that CVS will give me as much insulin as I am willing to pay for, since diabetes obviously will be a part of my life for a while. I thought that was good info to pass along.

| | | Do you have insuraance? or do you pay out of pocket? If I tried to get more I could but would have to pay out of pocket and not just 40.00 for my nine vials with the co pay.

| | | I have insurance, yes (and I am thankful for it), but my paranoia tells me to stock up, just in case.
You get nine vials? I need your insurance! LOL.

| | I use less than 1 vial per month. One of the things that keeps my insulin usage so low is body building. Oh the irony...

Mark | I understand! I finally got my IronMaster Smith machine this weekend and have been going at it with my new-found best friend, and my sugars run low for a good six-seven hours after working out (I know, I know, part of that is because I am out of shape). In the past I never adjusted my basal but instead used less insulin when I ate...what a nice benefit. |

That is an awesome machine to have at home. I would not have room in my house for a machine like that. Ironmaster has some real neat stuff and I’ve had my eye on their dumbbell system and free weight bench, but we belong to the YMCA and I can’t see dropping the money on more home equipment right now. I’ve got a couple benches and a set of dumbbells (only up to 40lbs) that I use at home when I can not get to the gym. I use their Smith machine a good bit, but I spend most of my time on free weights.
Keep it going duck, I believe weight lifting can only do us good, not only for better control, but also for better health.
