How does high BS affect you?

When you experience a high, for me around 200, are you sorta tired and worn out for the rest of the day??? Is it just me or does anyone else drag the rest of the day if they go high, like it zapped all the day's energy out of you and you have to recharge overnight and hope for a better tomorrow?

Yeah, I feel like doi'n nothin and just the knowledge that you're high and just miserable.
This may sound dangerous but bolus and take some lollys or something to prop yourself up and walk and the meter as well so that you have a fair idea of whare you're at.

Yes absolutely. It was a daily problem for years for me, when my diabetes was always unstable. Only getting better control will minimise it, but remember to keep hydrated and avoid stressful situations helps when it happens.

It makes me feel lethargic and thirsty, and tired. I try to wake up under 200 every day.

When my sugar is high, I feel tired and thirsty.

I used to wake up every morning with a very dry mouth and throat - to the point where I would literally gag if I didn't drink something right away - my fasting blood sugars at that time were ranging from 165-200 daily.

Since going on insulin, within the last 6 weeks I've been able to bring my fasting numbers down to the 98-120 range daily. The dry throat and mouth is gone!

Before going on insulin, my sugars were averaging in the 200's - after meals I would literally be so tired, I'd need a nap! Those episodes are also gone - again by a combination of low carb eating and taking insulin. I feel better now than I've felt in years!

If my bs have gone really high all I want to do is sleep and I have often gone for a lie down and nodded off for a few hours (something i wouldn't normally do) and I always wake up to better numbers but with a raging thirst.

Yup, I feel really tired and groggy, and I find it hard to conncentrate on things, almost like I'm in a daze. If I'm at home, I'm likely to fall asleep, but if I'm at work, I just have to work through it.

Usually if I'm around 250 or higher, besides the extreme thirst, I'm really grouchy and I get frustrated very easily with stupid things. And I feel sluggish.

I also get grouchy and frustrated! I also get thirsty + pee a lot - the usual. I would much rather have a low (as long as it doesn't involve passing out or losing motor function) than a high.

Something else I get, without fail, is not just a general thirst but a real craving for tea. I think I've associated tea with being high from some stage in my life when I must have drunk a lot of tea while having generally elevated BG. It's funny because as soon as I think "hmm I really feel like a cup of tea" I know I am 12+ mmol/l.

I also assume it's something to do with the caffeine. I try not to have too much tea (caffeine being more pressure on BG and dehydrating) but one cup does calm me down and settle my stomach (even if it is just druggy effects). Anyone else have specific cravings like that?
