I guess, despite the best efforts of the establishment, the word is getting out there slowly but inevitably.

Great article. Hope a lot of people read it. What is says has worked for me. It got me off meds in just under two years and I lost 70 lbs in the process.
Spread the word! Low carb really is the answer.

They always lump type 1 and 2 together by just saying we can cure diabetes. There is no way that will help out a type 1. Type 2 yes I agree it will help.

I also like how they compare the eskimo to the average American. yes they eat protien and fat but the fat is certainly different than a McDs Jumbo burger with a gazillion grams of fat. Good article but you need to read a little more into it. For a type 2 low carbs is certainly going to help but I would still not go overboard on the fat.

I agree that the media get confused with Type 1 and Type 2, but I also believe that there are many Type 1s here on DF who have found that reducing carbs helps to maintain a good BS level. I also think this article is misleading in talking of a "cure"... I believe that the people diagnosed with Type 2 will have to watch how they eat for the remainder of their lives.
As for the relative fat levels in a McD and the eskimo diet... the eskimo (inuit) eat/ate far more fat than a McD - ever hear of blubber? The fat = heart disease connection is a myth... it has not been scientifically proven... despite what you have been told by the media

good article - mostly.

the "reporter" refers to insulin as "medicine". it isn't medicine. it is a hormone.

insulin is the most natural way to help the body fight hyperglycemia.

for IR type 2s. losing weight and low carb is right on message.

for someone like me (slim, with a pancreas that is deficient), low carb works well - BUT - i needed more help.

hence my decision to use a "natural therapy" - insulin. it has only been four days now - but my life has gotten way easier!!!

the writer also "presumes" that injecting insulin is a big deal. (it isn't).

but for the most part this article is a huge step in the right direction. hopefully - it won't be invisible (like Frank's posts).
