Question Are these values beginning diabetes?

DH had blood tests at the dr.'s office.

Mean Blood Glucose (mean?) 136 (this was not fasting, 3 hours post meal)

A1c: 6%

I was diagnosed at 400+ so I am not familiar with the borderline numbers of this disease.

Mn,
If you look to to right of your screen under the red heading Diabetesforums.com, you will see the listing Converters, If you use it, you will find that an A1C of 6.0 indicates an average blood sugar of 136 (hence the 'mean' bg). Endocrinologists recently have started to diagnose D at an A1C of 6.5, which many of us think pretty high (average of 154). If this were my DH or child, I would definitely consider them to be diabetic. I can't imagine that it will get anything but worse over time without significant changes in lifestyle. However, I don't know whether a doctor would agree with me.
