Diabetic Dog Game

Does anyone remember the "fad" that came out a few years back, where you would get this "pet" that you had to take care of in the form of a keychain sized electronic gadget? You would have to feed it, water it, exercise it etc....

Here's something that might be of interest to you....

http://nobelprize.org/educational_ga...e/insulin.html

It's the same idea, except you have to give your diabetic dog (which you name yourself) insulin, walks, buy "treats", and so on. I suppose it would be a good teaching tool for youngsters.

Apparently, once you start, you've got to keep it up...

Is this intended to be an educational tool to prevent T2?

I'm not really sure what it's purpose is for. It's put out by the Nobel Prize Organization, so it must be educational. I received it from my sister but have yet to "play".

I'm not sure what "type" the dog is, as I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this...

Hope those treats are low-carb ... most dog and cat food is grainy.

Yeah, tamagatchis. Those were hip when I was in the 4th or 5th grade. I never had one.

This seems like a nifty idea for an educational tool, though. Something I'm sure Banting & Best would've approved of. Reminds us of how a treatment for diabetes was discovered to begin with.

I may as well provide my A1C's as well!

Time passes (???)
12/2007: 6.3%
08/2007: 6.7%
I don't remember before this but my A1C's were in the 5.7% area before I went to college...

These numbers should improve as I'm no longer trapped by the outrageous school/work schedules of college and will be starting a job with fantastic working conditions soon!
