"Paper" for my family

Hello folks.

I've written down a lot of the stuff that I have learned since diagnosis and I've been trying to keep it pretty concise and easy to understand. Many of the people in my family are diabetics, but they have a hard time controlling. They're still all in the "low fat, high carb" lifestyle, and as you would expect, have issues with their sugar.

Most of them don't understand much at all about the disease, and so I was hoping to try to help them out -- they're all intelligent folks, but typically don't have a lot of the same access to resources that I do. Most of them use AOL, for instance, and don't venture beyond the "AOL Health" section about health related things.

Anyway! I was hoping that if you have some time, you could take a look at what I've written and help me to make it as accurate, and easy to understand as possible. I know there are other resources out there, but I tried to compile the info that I primarily found important and helpful. It's long, and mostly focused on T2 as that's what I know the most about, and also what is most common in my family.

Thanks in advance.

Great work

This is well written and fairly concise. The one thing I would add is something on detection. What the tests are and what they mean. I would also add something on being wary of FBS. Many of my relatives look at that number and think I'm fine not knowing that this is virtually the last thing to change. I tell my family to drink a couple cans of coke and let me take their blood sugar. If it's above 160 after an hour, I tell them they need to see a doc.

Anyway, good going.

Mike

Thanks, and excellent suggestion. I'll definitely add that in.

Thank you, just what I needed. Good plain simple English. I hope you don't mind that I saved it to my new diabetic folder to study on one of those sleepless nights. A good read.

Thanks! That's kinda what I was going for -- something easy to read, but still informative.

Although I primarily want it to be accurate. I'm still hoping for some responses from some of the more experienced diabetics, I've only been at this for 3 and a half months, myself.

Although, when I research something, I REALLY research it, so I feel like I'm pretty good at that, at least.

I only skimmed parts of it but the parts I read were very good. Maybe you could get that published in a Diabetic magazine or something.
