Humalog is Lispro insulin and is made by Lilly. Novolog is Aspart insulin and is made by Novo. They are both very fast acting. But Novolog is somewhat faster and, some say, more potent.
According to a study in which blood sugar levels of subjects were clamped after insulin was injected, Novolog peaks at 52 minutes and Humalog peaks at 75 minutes. I have tried them both, and have have found Novolog to be faster. But no more potent. In fact, Novolog is too fast for a high protein/fat meal. So I mix it with Actrapid (Regular) in the morning.
