Is anyone here on Lisinopril? The last time I saw the doctor was on June 15th and I'm getting a new doctor that I don't see until the first of July. The last time I was there he gave me a presc. for Metformin and told me not to fill it until the urine test came back and the next day the lab called me and told me they had called in a presc. for Lisinopril to help my kidneys work better and to go ahead a fill the Metformin and start taking it. I was wondering if anyone else was on it and what kind of kidney problem is it?

Your Dr. is probably having you take this med to allow the kidneys to do their job easier.

Yes, and no... Lisinopril is a blood pressure reducer and is quite common in use. I was on lisinopril for a few years. It has a protective prophylactic effect on the kidneys and can help them function better, from what my endo told me. (He said all diabetics out of control should be on it.) However, generic Lisinopril makes me fall asleep every day at 1:30 where ever I am at the time, at my desk, the store, or while driving! (Fancy that, it turns off certain brain waves!)

The doc switched me to Diovan which does not make me drowsy, and is supposed to have the protective effects.
