Mary Tyler Moore on Larry King Live....

Did anyone catch this on CNN, the other day? I ended up seeing it last night (ok, 3 am, I couldn't sleep) when it was being replayed. I didn't mean to watch it, but it was on and I quickly became mesmerized.

I didn't realize that Larry King is actually type 2, so he and MTM (who is famously type 1 and the spokesperson for the JDRF) just had an all out gab fest about diabetes. They shared stories of having "lows" while working, and since Larry does his show live, he has had to cut to commercial, when he feels himself going low, to test his BG.

For her part, MTM seemed pretty millitant about a cure and about stem cell research. Larry King mentioned a new drug that is in testing to help control diabetes (sorry, don't recall the name) and MTM just sniffed and said some thing like "Yes, Larry, that's great, but that's not a cure. I want a cure and I want it in my lifetime."

Woo Hoo.

They also showed clips from when MTM sat before a congressional commision on stem cell research. SHe gave it to them pretty good along with several other diabetics who showed up to support the effort and speak.

I am normally not much on celebrity spokepeople...but I have to say, MTM seemed very sincere and genuine. She spoke of how she was diagnosed (in her early thrities, during a miscarriage, her BG was 785!) and how she hasn't gone on the pump, just out of preference for shots etc.

Anyway...anyone else see it? Any thoughts?

I don't have cable, so I can't see it.

Say you'll share with
me one
love, one lifetime . . .
Lead me, save me
from my solitude . . .

Say you want me
with you ,
here beside you . . .
Anywhere you go
let me go to . . .
Christine,
that's all I ask of . . .
(you)

Hi Lowell,

Well, you didn't miss all that much. I missed the very begining...I was just impressed that it seemed that for the whole hour they discussed diabetes and not much else really...I think MTM promoted her latest project (a TV movie) for all of 45 seconds and then went straight back to chatting about diabetes.
