Wave File explaining why diabetes complications occur.

Here is a link to a 30 minute wave file that it very informative about why complications occur with high blood sugars (diabetes). The talk is given by Dr. Richard Bernstein. Please be warned that he does briefly mention his web site in this talk. He mentions it on one occasion so as to inform where you can find more information on the complications of diabetes. I understand that Diabetesforums discourages mentioning links to other web sites on the forum, and for good reason, however this wave file is full of some very interesting and informative information and I hope that the moderators will allow this wave file link to remain. click for wave file explaining why diabetes complications occur .

This is the best stuff on diabetes I have heard in a LONG time. Do you have anymore Mark? It seems to be cut off at the 30 min mark instead of a close.

I will say his explanation of osmosis was god awful and was very glad he didn't have to explain anything else in lamens term like that.

I need to get his book. Everything he was saying really made a lot of sense. I don't think I will ever go on his diet, but this man is a diabetic expert. From what I have heard thus far there is no dount about that.

I can't listen to this at work...This reminds me though that I have never searched for diabetes-related podcasts...Anyone know of any (not to derail this topic)?

Good move Bri - I got his book recently and I'm loving his down to earth and sensible explanations. He's a smart man who really knows what he's doing!

As for the diet, I haven't got to that part of the book yet but I know the gist of it already. I do low-ish carb but not THAT low and get pretty good results.

I'm still quietly jealous of his 4.5 a1c! Some days I think 'it's just food, and I could do it too' and some days I think 'yeh right.. pass the chocolate' lol.

Taking on diabetes one meal at a time. It wins the odd battle but I'm winning the war.
Addicted to my Lantus, Novorapid and medicinal chocolate

Brian,

Yah, it is good stuff. You just do not get information like this from your friendly neighborhood endocrinologist. I do remember that it ends mid sentence and I have no clue why. Kind of leaves you hanging, but as far as I know there is no more to it that is available.
