Hey Cookie, a correction factor as I understand it, is the amount of insulin required to "correct" a certain bg level. I have not worked out mine very well yet, but regard it as being 1u:2mmol. that's means 1 unit Humalog (always fast acting insulin) will correct my bg by 2.
for example:
If I have a bg target of 5 mmol, and my sugar level is 13mmol at lunch, I will inject my normal dosage (4u) plus my correction dosage (4u) to bring it back down to 5mmol.
does that make sense? every diabetic is different though and if you find it's pushing you too low 2 hours later, then you know your correction factor is less, say 1u:3mmol.
hope this helped!
