getting diagnosed

Last year my husband and I increased our life insurance policies and I had to have a physical, including a non-fasting blood test. Everything came back w/in normal range there. Then, recently, I went to my doctor telling him about the fatigue I was experiencing & thirst. He also did a non-fasting blood test, and results were within normal range About the same time, I also saw my eye dr. because of blurry vision that I've experience off and on, especially in the morning. I was giving a pair of reading glasses. I also saw my OB/GYN regarding vaginal irritation and was told to stop using scented detergent and soaps.

Most recently, I saw a list of symptoms for diabetes and I am experiencing many of those symptoms: thirst, fatigue, weight loss, vaginal irritation, frequent urination. So, my question is....

Would a non-fasting blood test reveal diabetes, or should I go back to my doctor to ask specifically about diabetes?

thank you for your help.

Only if it was very very high. Call you Doctor's office and ask for a fasting and glucose Tolerence Test. Failing either one, unless you fail them badly, they will ask you to come back in a month for another test. You have to fail two test on different dates to be diagnosed. Passing those tests your doctor should be looking for other causes.
