Help: Mom with diabetes, how can I help?

I'm 16 and my mom has diabetes. I don't know much about it, but I do know she takes insulin shots every morning, and quite a few pills. I was wondering what I can do to help her stay strong? She tends to eat "junk" popcorn, sweets, etc. Is there anything I can do for her? Any healthy foods I can make?

Well, that's Very Sweet of you Toop. Is your Mom a Type 1 or 2? Do
you know if she takes 2 types of Insulin? As far as food, Mom's usually like
to make their own but a normal brown bread meat sandwich that she likes is fine or a yogurt with 4 crackers with peanut butter on them. She can eat popcorn(preferrable without butter). She does need sweets IF she is low on sugar. If she is a Type 1 Diabetic(Insulin Dependant)she can have sweets occasionally as long as she takes Insulin to counter-act it. She can have steamed or boiled veggies or raw. She can have a grilled cheese sandwich r a bowl of soup. Half an apple or a banana sliced maybe with a bit of cinnamon on it. A pork chop, medium potato and a veggie. One cup of hamburger helper. A tuna sandwich. A salad. A glass of milkor coffee or tea with milk. Two cabbage rolls with veggies. Lots to choose from. A small steak, brown rice and veggies. 3 Bacon, 1 egg and a toast. Small amount of spaghetti, 4 meatballs with sauce. Crystal light drink. How often does she test her blood sugar? A sammon sandwich with lettuce/tomatoes on the side.
Ask if you need more help.
